The words of a traitor. His transformation is complete.
"I want Democrats to be back in the majority in Washington and elect a Democratic president in 2008. This man and his supporters will frustrate and defeat our hopes of doing that."

Joe Lieberman
07/06/06, Connecticut Primary Debate

transcript here:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/07/AR2006070700029.html

Bullshit Joe!

Can we send a reminder of Lieberman's words back then to every Democratic idiot in CT that voted for this paranoid, war mongering prick?

By endorsing McCain this morning, Lieberman just earned a unique place in history only reserved for the greatest hypocrites of all time. He just gave every Democrat that voted for him (including Gore) the finger.

His transformation is complete. Welcome to the pukes! :puke:

By the way, was Lieberman to be a super-delegate? Not anymore I presume...

2. Yes he did! And here is Ned Lamont's original response...
I want Democrats to be back in the majority in Washington and elect a Democratic president in 2008. This man and his supporters will frustrate and defeat our hopes of doing that.

NESTI: Let me give you 30 more seconds, Mr. Lamont, if you would like on respond to that. Who is the real Democrat in this race? Can you define the party as you see it?

LAMONT: I think it's so important that the Democrats stand up and present a constructive alternative to the Bush administration. And I do find that Senator Lieberman too often is willing to undermine the Democrats, be it on issues of war and peace like the war in Iraq, or be it on a variety of other issues, be it, you know, Social Security, be it affirmative action, be it vouchers.

These are important issues that say a lot about what type of a party we are and what we stand for. We stand for the public good. We stand for public education. We stand for universal health care for each and every American, and I think it's important that when Democrats say that, that's when we start winning again.

***same link as posted in OP

Lamont's words were right on! He sure as hell went on to undermine the Dems.

3. If A Joe Shits In The Woods...
So the man who polled single digits in his own Presidential bid in '04 (anyone remember) in New Hampshire thinks he's gonna swing the balance for McCain in that state? A bump? More like a pimple. Joe's a party of one with few options and friends.

Now did you think Joe would endorse a Democrat? He HAD to kiss the GOOP ring to fulfill the svenghali pact he made with Rove and others to help him get re-elected in '06. He's hedging...as usual...by going with McCain...who IMHO is still the dark horse in this dog and pony show.

Going into the home stretch of the Repugnican primary circus, the party continues to splinter into irrelevence. The warfare between Mittens, Rudy and the Huckster is sure to be intense and all will come away bloodied. McCain, while flawed is still standing and could be still there after Tsunami Tuesday...and if he is, watch out.

Lieberman stopped being a Democrat in '06...he's less relevant by the day. If McCain wins the nomination, it's by default...being the last man standing in a cage match.

4. You can blame the Democrats for this
Edited on Mon Dec-17-07 12:03 PM by TechBear_Seattle
Had the party supported Ned Lamont -- the ACTUAL Democratic nominee for Connecticut Senator -- instead of LIEberman, we wouldn't be in this particular situation.

Added: Oh, and wasn't Senator Clinton one of his strongest supporters after the primary, when he started acting like the spoiled brat he really was? She openly campaigned for his independent bid, as I recall.

5. Yep
All in the name of "protecting the Dem majority". :puke:

They were warned. Where are all the Lieberman defenders now?

11. I often ask that question
There were so many of them and now they seem silent. Personally I almost want to augment my membership so I can find those old historical threads and see if there is a similarity in support between Joe and any other candidates.

I am also amazed by a number of posters that are constantly hating on Nader and claiming all progressive liberal votes as their birthright, while simutaneously bashing and castigating the left and all leftist positions.

These people seem often to be suspiciously silent of ACTUAL party traitors like Joe.

12. Oh, they're still around
And still insisting we vote for the Dem nominee no matter what their record, and if we don't we might as well just vote Repuke! Oh, the bitter irony.

This is just another sad example of what happens when an electorate compromises its principles just to win. It's no victory.

7. Well...
She certainly campaigned for him before the Primary, I am uncertain about after that point. I do know that Fox news campaigned for him before AND after the primary and that should have said something to New Hampshire Democrats.

Still the fact that Fox and Hillary agreed on Joe is good enough for me.

9. Yep, and this is how he repays her.
Honestly, it was Lieberman on the ticket that convinced me to vote Nader in 2000.

(And before you jump all over me, I was living in Massachusetts at the time, which was going blue no matter what. Had I been living in a borderline or red state, I would have held my nose and voted for Gore/Leiberman -- again nose would have been held for Leiberman, not Gore.)

8. Yup. He's in Zell Miller territory now.
Expect to see Holy Joe giving keynote speeches for the GOP conventions now.

He's made his choice.

10. Obama & Clinton BOTH supported LIEberman, both in the primary against Lamont
AND recently. Just a few weeks ago, Obama referred to him as "my friend and MENTOR".

That tells you everything you need to know about why I support Edwards in the top 3.
