Consumer Alert: Watch for double-billing on Credit and Debits Cards with Internet sales.
This has happened to me twice in the past 3 weeks. I check all my statements daily online for all my accounts. The first double charge was with Apple Store to purchase a Nano-Pod. I called them when I saw the error but they told me all items have already been sent. They sent me two items, each in a separate mailed box, one correctly engraved and gift wrapped, the second on engrave with the name of the intended gift. I had to secure a label and mail back the incorrect and unrequested Nano.

Today, I check my statement and now, Crate & Barrel has done this too, but in a 24 hour period. Exact same amount for each to the penny, one charge out of New Hampshire at the Gift Registry ??? which when I checked yesterday, I questioned why that name and location but recognized the amount. This AM...Bang, another charge now from Crate and Barrel from the Illinois location.

So,........ I believe this is how companies are "BOOSTING SALES". Check your statements and see if this has happened to you. This has happened to 2 other friends of mine as well. This could be a good story.

Bye...got to go to work. I'll check in.

LN

1. You can also add unauthorized charges
I got two from unknown businesses on my last mastercard statement. I called the phone numbers and got "There's no-one here at customer service right now, leave your name and number". Only one has called me back. They are an online e-book store and I never ordered anything from them. WTF?

6. I've had a few of these types of charges over the years,
but VISA/MC were excellent at taking care of it. One call & the next month there was a credit for the amount along with any interest incurred on that amount. These were small amounts of money -- less than $20 in all cases. Makes you wonder how many people don't notice these little bits of money & the companies that submit these charges get away with it. :grr:

8. It just happened to me.
I always check a couple of times a week. And for the very first time I noticed that five items were billed back to me. I checked down the listing and sure enough they were billed twice. I notice stuff posted to my account but you are correct something might slip thru and the only reason I noticed this is because they billed the five items back all together. Over 300 dollars..
