In no way is it suspicious that they wanted to spy on us without warrants BEFORE 9/11, even though they said that they only spied on us without warrants because they wanted to prevent another 9/11.

How could they know to protect us from another 9/11 before 9/11 happened?

I'm going to let you in on a little secret:
When someone asks for absolute/unchecked power over you to "protect you", it's never because they want to protect you. :-)

1. Actually, when someone asks for unchecked power, it usually means
they intend to abuse you.

they already abuse you.

3. I knew it would begin as soon as a republican got back in the white house.
That's what they love to do - illegal surveillance of Americans, and fuck what the rest of the world might be planning. We have to spy on Americans because they might be planning a war protest, or writing a pro-abortion tract, or listening to rock music.

5. I remember all the attempts in the late 90s...

...to ram surveillance legislation through Congress. Stuff like the "Clipper Chip" controversy, making it an offense to refuse to reveal passwords, loosening up the evidentiary rules around electronic surveillance of all kinds. Intense lobbying by the ACLU, the EFF, and other civil liberties groups repeatedly pushed this crap back, but the damn burst after 9/11 and it all came flooding out onto the statute books.

9/11 was just the biggest Christmas present the forces of repression in this country ever got.

8. I still think that having the plans for an Afghanistan invasion on the desk is more suspicious

U.S. sought attack on al-Qaida
White House given plan days before Sept. 11

NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski first disclosed the Bush administration’s plans to oust the Taliban in this May 16, 2002, report.

WASHINGTON, May 16, 2002 - President Bush was expected to sign detailed plans for a worldwide war against al-Qaida two days before Sept. 11 but did not have the chance before the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, U.S. and foreign sources told NBC News.

The document, a formal National Security Presidential Directive, amounted to a “game plan to remove al-Qaida from the face of the earth,” one of the sources told NBC News’ Jim Miklaszewski.

The plan dealt with all aspects of a war against al-Qaida, ranging from diplomatic initiatives to military operations in Afghanistan, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

18. There was an Afghanistan invasion plan left over for them by the Clinton administration.
A proposed response to the increasingly grandiose actions of Bin Laden and company in the late 90s. Don't know if it was the same one.

9. It's perfectly reasonable.
If you were planning an operation like 911, wouldn't you like to know who knew how much and how they knew it?

spread cheek moon into the television is how I start my day.

When they start the 1984 shit, if they haven't already, then I plan on grossing out as many of the government voyeurs as possible.

11. Why Would This Seem Suspicious! I Believe It Was Greg Palast Who
first wrote about a document signed by MANY Neo-Cons BEFORE the 2000 election about their "plans" WHEN THEY GOT The Idiot, Decider in the WH! I think I first read about it in 1998 and actually didn't believe this was real. I think Palast was working in London at the time and I even wrote him, telling him I was NO Bush supporter AND asked him WHY he would report something like this. Maybe it wasn't Palast, but it was someone in London and I got an email back with a document that had been signed by many of the Neo-Cons.

At THAT time I wasn't aware of "neo-cons" but I recognized names like Rumsfeld, Cheney, Crystal and more that weren't familiar to me. I have to admit that I thought the stuff wasn't something the was credible. Not UNTIL the election of 2000 did it dawn on me that something WAS really going on. I live in Florida and recall election night and what went on like it was yesterday. I remember seeing the faces of Bush and his cohorts when they got the news that Florida was called FOR GORE! I wouldn't call it incredulous, but more like "who F--ed up? Shortly after that MSM retracted the call, then a little later Florida was called for THE IDIOT!

Ever since THAT DAY, I knew in my gut that this country got screwed and began to believe that these people were NOT to be trusted! I'm sure somewhere out there the documents can be found, but I'm also sure that it has long since been discredited. I remember showing it to my sister-in-law and saying this was weird stuff even IF I didn't like Bush. Unfortunately I didn't save it and can't really say it was Palast who reported it, but I KNOW I saw the information.

And WE ALL know what has happened since THAT day, so "conspiracy theories" or not, none of it can be proved, but in my heart I know that THEIR fingerprints are all over this stuff... and the secrecy continues on even today!

12. Because it wasn't 9/11. It was a New Pearl Harbor.
I just had to fling that thought out there. I feel silly saying it. Although it is true. There's no doubt in my mind that they did it.

14. K&R-You think it can't possibly get any stranger and then the plot thickens...
:wow: like an unbelievably bad movie...a strange, weird and very terrifying one at that! -- Tony Snow admits on Fox News on September 11, 2001 that DHS ("Homeland Defense") was a newly-created organization BEFORE 9/11, slated to receive a large influx of funding in a time of budget cuts at the Pentagon. Tony also mentions the missing trillions and another newly-created organization http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIdAAAokdbo

:scared: :scared:

Didn't we learn from History class? --this kind of thing, could never and would never happen here in America...
