:wow:
This paper ALWAYS leans right...was surprised that they even printed this...let alone made it an editorial:

The last time I heard Rush Limbaugh's voice it was the day after Barack Obama's stirring speech at the Democratic National Convention a couple of summers ago. I knew it wouldn't take long before the blowhards on talk radio began giving the Illinois senator what-for because - how dare he! - he has an unusual-sounding - no, worse a middle-eastern sounding! - name.
Not even 18 hours after the senator's speech, which mobilized and may yet prove to change the Democratic party for good, Limbaugh referred to Obama as Osama. Like millions of others, I had heard the syndicated radio host say a lot of stupid things before, but this was beneath even him. So childish. Certainly a man making all those millions can come up with a better, more original and intelligent schtick than resorting to juvenile name calling. Intentionally mispronouncing a statesman's name so as to intimate that he was, if not with the terrorists, then like them? It's typical of the kind of mud Limbaugh loves to roll around in 24/7, so I certainly wasn't surprised. Having not listened to the ignoramous in almost two years since The Osama Incident, I can't tell you if he still calls Obama that or not. But if I were a bettin' man ... that's some eeeeeeezy money, babe.

Given that his unusual name has been the focus of many news stories since he stepped into the public eye, we made the decision at MyWestTexas.com to just ask you: Does his name, Barack Hussein Obama, make you less likely to vote for him? Since it's a name in the news, and it's not a name you hear everyday, we felt that was reason enough to put the question out there to see how you felt.
Sadly, almost 67 percent of 115 voters said yes, his name alone would make them less likely to vote for him.
Wow.

What this all portends, I fear, is that we have a man, a decent, intelligent, America-loving, God-fearing man who certainly appears like he could be unifying if given a chance, and maybe even fix what ails us. But in our divided country, Barack Obama unfortunately stands a better chance of being polarizing because he has a different name with a heritage unlike many of us.
What a shame.
