5. Why would an "Independent Democrat"
:eyes: support a Repug?!!!

It's time to take away his committee appointments until he toes the line!!!

24. There is no such thing as an "independent Democrat"!
Man, that makes me mad! Joe called himself that and it pissed me and my fellow Lamont supporters off! Ned won the Democratic primary in our state fair and square and Joe had the colossal nerve to start calling himself an "independant Democrat."

I'm not angry at you, just at Joe for being such an S.O.B. trying to fool the electorate here in CT. He is an Independent of a party that I think doesn't really exist any more. He is just a total fraud...

7. won't happen.. he's secure for another 5 years, and if Mccain
managed to win, he might even be the running mate or sec of def..

A republican governor would appoint his successor if he left the senate..
Unless we have a bigger majority after 08, Joementum knows he's got us right where he wants us..:grr:

8. Agreed.
He never votes with us, anyhow. The Rules this time around prevent a switchback like in 2001, so even if he caucuses with the Republicans, he won't cost us the leadership.

Better to have a real Democrat on those committees.

17. Why would he get punished?
The Democrats obviously want the Republicans to win, too. That's the only rational conclusion one could draw from their conduct over the last few years.

18. If crazy joe is stripped of his chairmanships then crazy joe
will walk across the aisle and say he is now voting with the republicans and thus you have the senate controlled by mitch and the boys.

I say we leave crazy joe along for the next 11 months and WE all work hard in each of the states we reside and make sure we elect anyone running against an incumbent republican. Then if we can pick up the 6 to 11 seats the new president elect (hope its HRC) will notify the senate majority leader ( hope hrc tells the boys she wants a new leader) and the leader can go then and tell joe he is stripped of his chairmanships and he can now go over to the dark side...

he already pretty much always votes with them anyway... so what would be the difference?

besides, i plan on gaining seats next elections.

and ditching mitch is part of that plan ;)

Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 06:02 PM by Marr
why not take away Lieberman's seniority and his committee positions? Let him caucus with the Republicans.

Surely our own sell-out "leadership" must realize that would at least give them an excuse when Bush gets his way on legislation. Right now they've got to continually come up with some new reason why they can't beat a lame duck President with a 29% approval rating, and they're never convincing.

They could go back to their old lame excuses about being in the minority if they pushed Lieberman out.

You out there, Pelosi? Reid? Doesn't that sound appealing?

He holds the threat of a party switch over the heads of the Dem leadership.

Why would the Dems be so stupid as to give control of the Senate back to the Republicans?

31. don't you understand what having the Senate majority
leader as a Democrat means?

And Lieberman doesn't vote with the Republicans a "majority of the time".

My God, the ignorance on this board is mind-numbing.

30. Lieberman, the Democrats and the Republicans have equal power in the Senate.

Any two of the Democratic party, the Republican party and the Conecticut For Lieberman Party, voting together, will overwhelm the third.

That means that even though the first two have fiftyish Senators and the third only one, they actually have far more nearly equal amounts of power.

Which makes "punishing" him a very dicey business.
