Has Obama been successful quitting smoking
No overtones on this one. As a former smoker i remember just how hard it was to quit. To quit while running for president seems pretty dicey.
Hope he's stayed off the weed.

1. I found it difficult to stop smoking while running for President.

2. I'm pretty sure.
I seem to remember reading that he hasn't had a cigarette since February or some time around then. He'd been chewing Nicorette gum.

4. Good for him if he has
been able to quit,
especially under the
stress of running a
campaign.

6. It's an insane time to do it.
I hope he spent the first two weeks surrounded by very very understanding people.

But it's not like the stress is going to let up anytime soon.

7. While there is the stress, he's also surrounded by positive reinforcement.
There is no shortage of people around him daily that he doesn't want to let down. That can be a real encouragement for someone quitting. Not only that, where's he gonna sneak off to to buy a pack? He's under scutinty and observation the whole campaign.

In a way, it may be easier for him to quit than you or me. Cause I can just walk down to the gas station and buy a pack. Obama would have to ditch his family, staff, and press corps.

8. FWIW, I highly recommend Chantix(TM) to help quit smoking.
I smoked over a pack a day for over 40 years, and am the last person I ever thought could quit smoking, but -- except for a few cheating puffs here and there -- I have not had a cigarette for three and a half months now.

This is ENTIRELY due to the efficacy of the new wonder drug Chantix. Like nothing else I've encountered, it really does reduce the craving to smoke.

I advise anyone who really wants to quit to give this new drug a try. It costs about $115 per month, which is about what I spent on cigs. The good news is, after a few months of Chantix, I won't need to spend money on it OR on cigarettes again. (I hope, I hope.)

Meanwhile, it sure feels good to look down my nose at you poor goofs who are still slaves to Nick O'Tine.

9. The county hospital here had a quit smoking program
they gave away free patches as long as you did group once a week. That is how I was able to quit three years ago.

12. I've got a script for it right now...but am afraid of the nausea. If Obama was able to quit...
that's a HUGE plus in his column for me.

It's a bitch.
