3. Contrary to the spin, neither the Senate nor the House Committees
was told about the destruction of tapes.

6. Not the Committees, but Pelosi was told.
But she was bound by oath and penalty of law from divulging that information.

29. no Coyote. It's not bullshit. They were briefed on the waterboarding, not about the tapes.
The op just has his information a little bit skewed. harman, Pelosi, Rockefeller, and of course the corresponding republicans from the intelligence committees were briefed about waterboarding way back when. that isn't new information.

9. but I dont think anyone ever said they knew about tape destruction.
What was said was that they knew about waterboarding. meaning rockefeller, pelosi, harman.

11. Right. That's what I remember hearing. They have all said they were briefed on the torture issue....
but NOT given specifics about it (supposedly). All of them, repukes and Dems, have said no one briefed them about the destruction of the tapes.

5. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!@#$%^^&** The committees were never informed? BUT that's not what Pelsoi, Harman
Edited on Wed Dec-12-07 04:45 PM by in_cog_ni_to
and Rockefeller said. They admitted they were briefed....just not to the extent the WH was trying to make it seem. I'm so confused! Why did they all say they had been briefed then?

on edit...I see your other post. This is about them not knowing the tapes were destroyed. I heard that the other day, so this is new news because Hayden is admitting the committees were never told they were destroyed? I hope I have that right?

30. malaise you are confnusing several different things together. Noone was ever
briefed about tapes or tape destruciton. They WERE briefed about the waterboarding and they have admitted it. Harman already said so. Rockefeller said so. That is old information. It has nothing to do with the CIA tapes in the news right now.
2 separate subjects, both involving torture.

he didn't know why Hayden insists on wearing his uniform because it certainly IS NOT required by the CIA. The man is STRANGE!:scared:

26. Really bizarre.
And somewhat unsettling.

If those vids and pics were in a grainy black-and-white, it would look like Germany, 1939.

I fear that we are staring right down the throat of a Police State.

But the boys in DC know that your average dumb-ass American goes all a-flutter about a man in uniform with a breast adorned with pieces of shiny metal.

16. So despite Harman's letter telling the CIA not to destroy the tapes
...and to inform Congress if such a step was being considered, they did it anyway and told no one.

20. Now comes the fun part of figuring out who told them to do it
...and proving it...and then maybe doing something about it.

I doubt I'll live long enough to see satisfaction.
