1. I thought they were the same thing..
I mean..our government's main priority is to protect U.S. business interests here and around the globe.

3. There's one thing you can ALWAYS trust
and that is America's highly developed sense of monetary greed, and therefore you can rest assured that "the market's" entire operating principle is to satiate that greed.

5. That's why I tend to trust them more
I know exactly what "the market' wants...my money. They don't even really try to hide it. The Government, on the other hand...

6. on some level, neither, but I distrust "the market" more and here's why
The Government is (or would/should be if so many were not so lazy and apathetic) We The People. There are a number of built in regulatory systems which in theory can keep us safe, unless run by republicans and/or their cronies. The Government is the people.

The Market, however, is the people's greed. Yes, many things will be "voted" by our purchasing dollar, but many more won't. How many buy imported goods because it's all we can afford? Do we realistically have much option to do otherwise? Now, with the recent episodes of unsafe consumer products, how can anyone think that the market serves any purpose other than to enrich a few, and enslave many more?

I am a capitalist in that I believe in competition and being paid for work/ideas/products, but that needs government regulation for many reasons. Deregulation & privatization - trusting the Market to police itself - lead directly to the S&L Crisis, Enron, Blackwater, Walter Reed Scandal, Paperless Voting Machines, Katrina, and many more ills.

Both Government and Market are only as strong and as good as the people in them, but Government can watch the Market far better than the market can watch the government.

Distrust in the government and over-trusting the market leads to the privatization of everything. That scares the hell out of me, honestly and should scare the hell out of you too.

I am assuming this poll was in regard to health care, yet another example of how the Market has lead us down the shit hole to where we are now - the bottom.
