Poll question: 2008 : We are safer without Saddam in power!
It seems everyone running for President in both parties (not Paul or Kucinich) thinks that we are safer now (post invasion) then we would have been if we never invaded Iraq.

I can't wait until 1-20-09 when the new C-I-C will show us how to win this war!

Poll Question Are we safer now that Saddam is out of power?

1. Four reasons why we're not safer:
He did not have WMD's--no capability to attack us.

Saddam would not have allowed Al Qaeda into his country.

Saddam kept Iran in check.

We wrecked our military and our treasury in invading Iraq and taking him out.

3. Of course we are!
Saddam attacked us on 9/11 and vowed to do it again...oh, wait, that wasn't him.
Saddam had nukes...oh, wait, sorry nope.
Saddam had huge stockpiles of chemical weapons...dammit, I'm not doing well here.
Saddam was in league with Al Qaeda...what? really? Crap.

Can I change my yes vote?

8. Bogus Question
By phrasing it the way you do, you imply that "the world" would be a safer place with an additional madman in power, one who had invaded other countries, threatened the U.S., killed his own people, etc.

It's a Republican 'trap' question. One that to answer accurately, makes a person seem to take the side of Saddam Hussein.

You phrased it better in the first sentence. "Are we safer now (post invasion) than we would have been if we never invaded Iraq?" It might seem to be the same question, but the conotations are very different.

10. totally
Worldwide terrorism has increased significantly since the war.

And there are other madmen whose removal would benefit the planet MUCH more.
Like, the ones that have killed hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians...

17. How did your candidates respond to the Iraq question in 2003?
Howard Dean was opposed to the invasion (supported him in 2003/04)

Dennis Kucinich was opposed to the invasion, and wants to end the occupation (support him in 2008)

Obama referred to the invasion as a "dumb" war, which it was. Unfortunately, he has voted to keep funding, and hasn't committed to when he would end the occupation)

Anybody else against this from the beginning?

The question has been asked of all the candiates several times over, and HRC is the only one who says we're safer now.

23. Fucking Idiots
Saddam put a lid on the pressure cooker in Iraq. Sure, he was brutal, but it wasn't anymore brutal than what has taken place since Idiot In Chief spread his democracy.

25. I remember being in the minority here on similar polls a few yrs ago...
only questions back then were more along the lines of "Are Iraqis better off without Saddam in power?".

I can't wait til the Iraqi people kick our asses out of their country and make it very clear just how safe we are! If only that were possible.

We owe them big time..for the million or more dead Iraqis who we alone are responsible for...anyone ever wonder WHY we have never tallied that figure; the four million or more displaced Iraqi refugees who no longer have a thing to lose...how many of those destitute Iraqis were allowed to even immigrate over here during the past four years and why the hell does that quota remain so low; infrastructure wrecked beyond repair, with the ability to maintain their culture seriously damaged...like what everyone in a ravaged nation really needs is a gigantic US embassy and military bases.

For all this, we should never be safe again!
And the question should now be, "As long as the USA retains such military power, is the world safe?"
