Poll question: Curious As To Your Thoughts: How Badly Did Hillary's Vote for Kyle/Lieberman on Iran Hurt Her?
Hillary has dropped in the polls in Iowa. Since she was front runner to begin with and races do always tighten as voting time approaches, it is only natural that Senator Clinton would see some drop in polling.

Still, I wonder, did Hillary's vote for the Kyle/Lieberman resolution against Iran --- only days before Iran was proven not to be involved in developing a nuclear weapons program and that, once again, "intelligence" was manipulated -- in hindsight, did that vote hurt her with voters in Iowa and New Hampshire?

1. At least 70% to 80% of the voters don't have a clue what you're talking about.
So there's your answer.

5. Do most Americans honestly know what the Kyl/Lieberman amendment even is or its relevance?
I don't really think so. As a result, I don't think it will hurt her simply because people exist in a state of sheer ignorance.

9. I think you are right. Among wonks like us, it hurt her very badly
but a lot of the Dems I know didn't know about it. OTOH, I think we do have a "water-cooler" effect that can take some time to build so I wonder if we may be seeing the fallout from K/L just now.

One can hope.

7. Hillary made this vote because at the time she thought she had the nomination in the bag
This was a vote for the general election. In her mind, not supporting Bush's every whim on wars would make her look weak in the general. Sad thing is that with the new intelligence it looks like the vote wouldn't even have helped in the general.

It did give us a view of what sorts of things to expect from Hillary if she ever does get the nomination. More triangulation. More tough talk on defense. Scared to stand up for a balanced foreign policy.

Sad.

8. Among the general public, it hurt her a little (that was my vote). among the informed
and active, I think it really hurt her.

I know she and Obama rank at the bottom with Gravel as my choices after that.
