Arrogance - the signature of this regime.

So cocky starting out. So contemptuous of law and lawyers.

I was convinced that they were told that they did not have to worry about reprisals or the law - inferring that they were in charge without an end date.

There are fewer demonstrations and testimonials displaying it.

There is much hemming and ah-ah-ing in place of it.

There are attempts to be cautious.

What were they told that allowed to come off as arroganly as they did?

A book could be written about this one subject.

Falwell has died, Robertson is letting his son take over. Who has heard from Bennett? Where is Barbara? Is Matalin still around? Libby dropping his appeal.

People are starting to ask why the heck the State Dept has their own private army, where it came from, and who is paying for it. Blackwater - arrogance personified.

Does anhyone else notice this?

1. OK, maybe I was wrong. After writing this I found kpete's thread on Cheney
Talk about arrogance.

Cheney has the arrogant gall to smack down all the structure of 200 years.

He is not an 'agency'.

2. Bush has lawyered up and said "no comment."
I am still pessimistic there will ever be true justice for this criminal cabal.

3. So far they still don't have to worry
One the day that people start getting arrested and making it stick (not being commuted) wil be the day this admin will be worrying.

4. The reasons why Libby dropped his appeal
are as follows. Of course, this is IMHO, YMMV, and I look forward to being proven wrong.

I'm willing to bet that the big dollar donors to the Libby Defense Fund have dried up due to a variety of circumstances. I'm also willing to bet that Ted Wells does not want another go-round with Patrick Fitzgerald, which would be the remedy for a successful appeal. Thirdly, I'm very much betting that the appeal was dropped the day before pardons were announced in order to show that Libby was "in the market", so to speak.

Two of the necessary components of a Presidential pardon are serving out one's sentence before asking and showing remorse for one's actions. You tell me whether or not the preceding was achieved, hm? ;-)

8. I believe you will be proven right. But, give yourself a hedge. Cheney
must be in operable health. If not, who knows for sure who will fight for Libby if someone decides George's legacy will look bad.

11. They're not going to help him
Commuting his sentence is all he'll get, and that caused a firestorm. They've made sure he has a cushy think tank job, he didn't spend a nickel for his defense, but as long as Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation remains "inactive", they can't afford Libby testifying against them.

IMHO, YMMV,
Julie

6. They totally did not expect to lose the majority in the Senate.
Or, to have to answer to anyone in the least, or the law.

Doing time is going to really hurt.

7. Actually I think they are ignoring us at this point
They don't NEED arrogance. They have complicity. They can-and will-do anything they want to.
They just don't need to maintain a facade anymore.

9. Yes and no. Their is arrogance at the deciding level and their is arrogance
that spread out and down to all their operatives - from Blackwater to the reverends to the Justice Dept employees to every level of their field of grooming.

They may remain complicit at the top, but the arrogance is lightening up at the edges. imo. except for Blackwater and the people who steal from us to pay for them - a State Dept army.
