We'll deserve what we get.

We usually do.

It is really disheartening to see all of the threads about this poll and that poll, and just who is the most electable. There hasn't been so much talk about issues, details of candidates plans; you know, the things that ultimately matter. I'm sure most of you understand that polls are biased in one way or another, and can be easily skewed. But to also talk about why we should vote for candidate X, because he or she is the most electable?

I'm a pretty stubborn and uncompromising man, when it comes to choosing who I want for president. I like to really study the individuals and their past performances, then compare.

There is a reason I'm voting for Dennis Kucinich, and it has nothing to do with whether his daddy worked in a goddamned mill, his haircut, cute little slogans like "I'm for change," (whatever the hell that means. Every four years some damned candidate pulls a Robert Redford and campaigns for change.) or whether he is already intimately familiar with the White House.

So, the reasons I am casting a vote for Kucinich are two-fold. He mirrors what I am looking for in a leader. In ten years as a congressman he has only missed five percent of votes on Capitol Hill. He has shown that he has principles and the courage of his convictions. Who among the present candidates voted against the IWR, the Patriot act, AND introduced articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney, and is currently preparing articles of impeachment against George Bush? There is only one candidate that fits that bill. Aren't these the issues that matter most to us progressives? Hell, we talk about these things all day, every day. You don't hear the other candidates talking about impeachment, let alone doing anything about it. The other candidates already failed my test, when it came time to stand for something really important, while Kucinich has nothing to evade or apologize for. And the other candidates? They are so busy going around Iowa and New Hampshire telling everyone what we ought to do, while Kucinich is introducing his health plan as legislation. I like a man of action, don't you? While the others are busy talking about their plans, he is busy trying to turn his health plan into legislation.

Look into your hearts and souls and really try and determine who best exemplifies what you are looking for as a president. Kucinich has vowed to pull troops out of Iraq and create a department of peace (a novel idea) Who else among the leading candidates has made that promise?

I am starving for real change. As God is my witness, I truly believe that Dennis Kucinich is the only democratic candidate principled and resolute enough to offer us what we so desperately need right now.

I don't mean to come off as condescending. It's just that I have seen too many posts where people like Kucinich, but feel he can't win, and therefore won't vote for him because they are afraid of this or that. To those of you who feel that way, please vote your conscience. We could pull off a miracle. How exciting would that be?

You're absolutely right. As this article makes crystal clear, the war is not the only issue. Now, please go to dennis4president.com and read Dennis's positions on all the issues, including poverty. Then tell me again why Edwards is your first choice.

11. I can tell you very easily....... I dropped Dennis because he dropped me.
He doesn't TALK about poverty, and all his efforts are about war and impeachment.

Edwards is walking his talk, and speaking for me.

Dennis left me in the dust, and it hurt.

Now, instead of badgering me, why doncha talk to DENNIS about it, hmmm?

2. and pigs might fly
sorry, I wasted my vote on John Anderson and have lived with the guilt of having made a tiny contribution to raygun's defeat of Carter. Twofold guilt, since I learned Carter was far better than the media made him out to be then, and raygun was far, far worse than I could have imagined.

I am not about to go off tilting at windmills. If I was complicit in the dem's nominating Kucinich and any of the pugs beat him I'd have to kill myself.

4. Why do you feel that Dennis is so unelectable?

He was elected as Cleveland's youngest Mayor, at age 31, and he's been re-elected to the House four consecutive times.

8. and Dukakis was elected Gov of Mass three times,
four times to the Mass. House. Mondale was elected Senator twice and was VP. McGovern was elected twice to Congress and thrice to Senate. He was a war hero and a former Methodist minister.

all that and a couple of bucks gets you a latte.

12. huh?
none of these guys stood a chance in the presidential election. They were all hammered. So what point did I prove? That winning local elections does not prove a damned thing about electability? To reiterate - I ain't gonna tilt at windmills. Handing the country over to any of the lamebrains the pugs are running, giving the PNAC a blank check to finish destroying life as we know it is not high on my list of things to do. If it makes you feel any better, I feel the same way about the dem at the opposite end of the spectrum from your guy. She would stand a better chance, perhaps, but not by much. People just don't grasp the depth and breadth of the cabal we have been struggling against for the past fifty years.

I hope to hell DK stays visible and vocal, and influences policy over the next decade. But nominating him would be like telling your kid to just stand up to the bullies on the playground. It might sound good, but when he comes home all busted up, you wonder what the hell you were thinking.

5. Got Ya Beat!
Not only did I vote for Anderson, but for McGovern as well. But unlike you, I have no regrets. Never have I compromised my beliefs in the voting booth. Now take a good look at the title of Joe's post. Go ahead - vote for another corporate-funded, middle-of-the-road, Repug-lite candidate. And indeed, you will get the President you deserve.
