Americans - you can be so proud of Al Gore!

Here are a couple of pictures from the evening after the Nobel ceremony in Oslo, Norway (I'm Norwegian):

http://www.dagbladet.no/nyheter/2007/12/10/520800.html

http://www.aftenposten.no/klima/article2145986.ece

Al Gore is a big, big hero here in Norway. The Norwegian government has just decided to contribute 550 million US dollars yearly to protect rainforests (a cost-effective way of fighting global warming).

(I can't reply to this now, gotta go!)

22. I thought so too.
It captures a very thrilling personal event for the Gores.

They're both appropriately and elegantly dressed, which is a nice change of pace in the BushCo era.

The photo won't make them look like "Tilly's Duds" fashion-victim crapburgers, not even one hundred years from now.

Wonderful pictures, as well as the video of the actual ceremony at the first link.

We are proud of President Gore -- and you can be very proud of your government for showing true leadership in the fight for the planet and for humanity!

9. It just makes me want to cry
To think that Al Gore should be our president now like the majority of Americans wanted.
And to think of how very different things could have been. we could have been well on our way to solving the Global Warming problems.

And thanks to the Norwegian people for there generous contribution to saving the rainforest...that is so essential to solving the problem

It's always nice to see that people from other countries realize we are not all a bunch of Bush Bots!

I'm so proud of Al Gore I could burst!

And congratulations on living in the #2 best place to live in the world! That is so great! A slip from your long standing hold on the number one slot, but being an American, you are still living worlds away from us... on many levels!

11. From behind the Iron and Televised Curtain of Imperial Amerika, we salute you of the Free World
Edited on Mon Dec-10-07 07:18 PM by tom_paine
God Bless Norway and all the other nations who are now the beacons of freedom for those of us trapped in tyrannies (even friendly fascist tyrannies like Amerika).

Long may you resist falling and becoming like the Big Three Totalitarian States of the World, Amerika, Russia and China.

I predict hard times for you Free Worlders.

Beware your own BushPutinists digging out the foundations of your freedom, destroying it's foundation that it may easily be knocked over later.

That is how they start, and it certainly look innocuous enough...in the beginning.

Don't make the mistakes we Imperial Subjects of Amerika made, or you shall wind up without freedom serving Norweigan Bushies (oh, you have them, of that I have no doubt) and their evil plans.

Take a warning from we who had freedom and gave it away for nothing. You Norweigans and all the rest of the Free World have an obligation to keep your freedom. Don't become like Amerika, so ready and willing to serve the next Hitler...Bush.

May God protect and defend your Free Nation. May you Norweigans protect and defend it, such a rare commodity these days.

From behind Iron and Televised Curtain of Lies that my country has become, I salute you for being free. Hold on to that, your most precious gift you can hand down to your children. Don't let your own Bushies take it away from them, as they have here.

13. Thank for your nice thoughts. Although I do not share your
optimism for my own country. Capital rules here as well. Our oh so enlightened government licks the boots of the Iranian regime whilst thy hang gays all for oil contracts. Now, Putin is our best friend because of gas in the arctic. A few dead journalist and a strangled democracy be darned.

I am worried.

19. Everything is relative. Old America wasn't perfect, either, but we were free.
Edited on Mon Dec-10-07 07:54 PM by tom_paine
And you will have no idea, unless and until you lose your ability to have any say in voting for National Offices or to get information not propaganda over your airwaves, or have Loyal Bushies go through a fishing expedition of your medical records or put you on a No Fly List because of your views, you will have no idea how freedom makes those other "imperfections" (hey, we're human beings, utopias are not very likely on this planet) easier to bear.

It might sound mawkish, but freedom makes the air taste crisper, the food richer.

You don't know this because it is likely you have lived in freedom all of your life, whatever wrongs your government has done these past 50 years (I confess I know little of recent Norwegian history, other than it is stil free, dso perhaps I am only guessing).

I would not wish the feeling of having it dissolve under your feet on anyone. You cannot know how this feels, just as I cannot know how the nations who don't enjoy Bushie-style "friendly fascism" and have to deal with much more violent, personally-dangerous Old Totalitarianism, feel on a daily basis (Thank God our fascists are, for the moment the NICEST fascists in the world). I cannot know how THAT feels and I don't want to know.

Just like you don't want to know what it is like to be an Imperial Subject of Amerika, and carry your freedom with you in your heart because it only exists as a pale shadow of what was in the beloved nation of your birth. And even though the day-to-day is certainly much nicer than, say Bushie China, it's not something you want to live through or in, not if you value Liberty.

That you are worried is good. That's healthy. Just make sure that you keep your eyes open for the warning signs.

Doing business with Bushie Putin out of necessity is far from joining the Big Three Totalitarian States, Amerika, Russia, and China.

Again, I must plead ignorance of your current and recent history, so I cannot speak directly to your concerns.

But you are a Free People, for now at least, and that is more than anyone in this country can say honestly. So if you are concerned, do something now before it is too late. Organize or join if an organization exists already.

If we Americans had organized in the 80s and 90s during the early stages of Bushies just stating to tear down our System of Checks and Balances, as well as starting their Propaganda Machine, we might have been able to stop them before it was too late.

Don't make the same mistake we Americans did. If you see Bushie Evil starting, then help to stop it before it metastasizes and takes over your nation. Contact like-minded people...organize. Do it yesterday, or risk the fate of the Imperial Subjects of Amerika, handmaidens to evil tyrants.

35. Yes, the entire planet lost big when the 2000 election was stolen from Gore.
Everyone on the planet would have been spared the horrific effects of the Bush crime family, and we would have been world leaders on the global warming front and on world peace.

Why, we might even have been developing a society as wholesome, intelligent, and level-headed as the people of Norway have created.

So good to hear from a Norwegian about Al Gore. THANK YOU!

So many of us are still grieving the theft of the presidency, and the decline into irreversible climate damage, loss of civil rights, and destruction of the middle class. We will always know in our hearts that Al Gore was the righteous winner of that election.
