A long time ago I had a client who was an "Italian businessman"

in the Whoopi Goldberg sense of the term. His modus operandi was to try to have something on everyone-with me it was cash "that I could not tell my partner about" (I refused to take it) and threatening to tell my wife what I'd done in Las Vegas (I told him she knew about worse things I'd done than that and would get over it). With others it was knowledge of things they had done "off the books" or gifts they'd accepted that they should not have. It appears from posts here today that the Bush crime family is operating in the same way, getting just enough on Dems to make them complicit in things like torture or at least placing them in a postion where they are sworn to secrecy and cannot defend themselves from the implication that they were complicit. Nice government we have. Someone needs to come up with a way to give these people a graceful way to tell what they know. I know now that the way I was thinking in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 was not rational or at all consistent with the way I have lived my life-the same may be true for our elected representatives.
