I just started posting on DU and that freeper site. My post was NONE OF THE ABOVE.
"I posted this: we all have taken tests all our life and in multiple choice tests if all the answers were incorrect there was a box that said NONE OF THE ABOVE. To bad there is not a box that says that on the Presidential Ballot. So instead I am going to write in a candidate. I am tired of voting for the lesser of Evils, thinking which candidate is going to screw up the country the least? I think the nation (the people) should send a message that we want the BEST person for the job, someone not influenced by big business or donation money. Even though it will not affect the Presidency, if enough people voted none of the above (or wrote in someone) maybe the parties would realize that we are tired of what choices they are giving us. I think our forefathers would be disappointed in us for letting things get this way. "

I wrote a reply on Du and was welcomed for the thought
as far as the Freeper site I got 25 replies in less than 3 minutes actually most were in agreement that something needs to be done but was suspended at first then 10 minutes later was banned from Free Republic for that post. (I DO NOT CARE)
To me that goes to show you DU is much more open minded than that freeper site!! they only want simple minded people to post anything!
So I have donated money to DU after only 1 day as I appreciate the courtesy of expressing my thoughts without being banned for them.

Please DU don't ban me I am now a supporter of yours!

25. The site is open minded, but it does have a few rules

and one thing to keep in mind is that it's the DEMOCRATIC Underground, meaning that any post that suggests writing in a non Democrat will likely get deleted and enough of them will get you banned.

Greenies and Libertarians have their own sites out there somewhere.

It's still a great place to toss around ideas within a framework of very commonsense rules. Just expect to get your head handed to you once in a while. We all do.

From what I've seen, it takes QUITE A BIT to get banned from DU. DU does not simply *allow* criticism, but it *encourages* criticism, and I think that that is a very good thing. Meanwhile, FR is purging members who support certain republican candidates (guiliani) LOLOL.
