Do I need a new religion?
All the ones out there seem so fucking stupid.
Can anyone get me a cheap religion ... or should I just say fuck it and continue to worship shiny objects?

Thanks all. Group hug to DU!

4. 'Tis the season for shiny object worship.
Stick with that one for a few more weeks at least, it's good for the economy.

5. I've got a great one for you
You pray for what you want and try not to hurt anyone else. It used to be called Christian, but that name got hijaked by warmongering Neo-Convicts.

6. I say worship shiny objects ... like the sun.
At least we know it actually exists and gives life to all creatures on Earth. :)

9. But if anyone suggests to you a religion
But if anyone suggests to you a religion and then tells you why, that can only mean they're proselytizing and ramming their beliefs down your throat...

11. Monism is really cool. It is exactly the same as atheism, just with a
slightly different philosophical underpinning. Since everything that Is is One Thing, it is okay to call the One Thing "god", if you want to. But in Monism there is no difference between there "being" a "god" and there"not being" a "god". So, as a Monist you are an atheist, you just get to call yourself a "Monist". Pretty cool...

14. I try to change mine out when the one I'm using gets ruts in it.
There is nothing worse than finding a new and interesting way of thinking about life only to have the treads of mindless habit slip into the ditches of dogma.

When I find that happening, I give the old gal a look-see to find out if there is anything useable left. If so, I save it until I find an updated model, hopefully with better suspension (of disbelief) and see if I can incorporate the leftovers.

But usually by that time, they've gotten moldy and quite smelly, so I end up dumping them anyway.

But this worshipping of shiny things sounds interesting....tell me more.
