4. Robert Parry's ConsortiumNews. The DC bureau of KnightRidder that McClatchy acquired
earlier this year - Enjoy the investigative reporting while it lasts. McClatchy papers are tightening up alot and you'll eventually be seeing a print version of Sinclair Broadcasting.

5. McClatchy is up there, as is the Christian Science Monitor more
often than not. I think they both try to give us news, not opinions or spin.

11. Yes, CSM has been good for decades.
I first learned about it from one of my journalism professors back in the late 50s.
I'd heard of it, but assumed it was some kind of 'church' newspaper.
Way back then it was on his list of top, most influential/widely read, national newspapers.
I check their headlines online every morning.

Even the "fake news" of the Daily Show, which is really not that "fake" at all.

15. I go all over the joint..
many times it is not the source of the publication but the author that I question. I start here on DU. Then it's pique and seek. I have accumulated lots of links, that I go to depending on the nature of the article.

18. I have a list, actually........
BBC, CBC, McClatchey, CSM, Asia Times, Guardian Unlimited, Le Monde Diplomatique, der Speigel (both have an English version), Lebanon's Daily Star, Watching America always has an interesting compilation as does UK watch, the Moscow Times and Pravda are interesting, the International Herald Tribune, Times of Oman, Le Monde, Ma'an News Agency, Alfenposten, the New Zealand Herald, the Norway Post and the Nation.

There's also a site called "behind the homefront" which is a "daily chronicle of news in homeland security and military operations affecting newsgathering, access to information and the public's right to know." It's worth looking at. It appears to be a bit behind the times at the moment, however. For a mostly Canadian viewpoint, the Straight Goods is worth reading, as is the Tyee. The Agoniste is interesting, too, and the Free Press is worth a gander every now and then.

Yes, I'm a news junkie. Yes, I have to much time on my hands.

21. World Socialist Website
These days, Socialists are more honest and more courageous than any media outlet, and concerned and responsive to human needs than any other US political party.
