CNN: Protest "Nutty Professor" hit piece for the Real President!
I am furious!

Did you see that segment about 1/2 hour after President Gore gave his brilliant, never to be forgotten Speech?

What is the name of that "anchor" who was enjoying the clip from the "Nutty Professor" as some wing nut gave the "Other Point of View" regarding Global Warming?

It was awful!

I bet they had that ready a long time ago. It was nothing that they just pulled out of the hat this morning.

What is the "anchor's" name?

24. John Roberts was the first person on screen after the speech.
He made several denigrating remarks about Mr. Gore. However, the main "hit piece" was given by Miles O'Brien from Oslo. He was the one who made the statements that Gore was like the "nutty professor" (Jerry Lewis) in that he was more popular in Europe that he was in the U.S.

Not only was Gore attacked, the entire scientific community was spoken of as though they were a bunch of "ivory tower" blowhards.

3. Did someone explain to CNN . . .
Gore won the Nobel Prize for Peace, not scientific achievement. So deriding him with a "Nutty Professor" clip would be like running of clip of Chewbacca to make fun of the New England Patriots - it doesn't make any sense.

5. The authors of that hit piece knew exactly what they were doing.
The were attempting to diminish Mr. Gore and his message. Why, I'm not sure. The simple answer would relate to business profits. But, somehow, it seems deeper than that.

global warming in the scientific community. It doesn't matter how much Exxon-mobile spends trying to bribe scientists into stating otherwise; the facts have already been established.

Don't mess with my President Gore!

I am on a one woman mission now and getting my computer keys ready to give them a piece of my GOCLARK mind!

Check this out -- this is how they "promoted" the segment on their web page...

GORE'S NOBEL PRIZE
Why is Vice-President Al Gore more popular -- and why is global warming less of a polarizing issue -- everywhere but in the country where he almost became President? Our Miles O'Brien is live in Oslo, Norway this morning.

Sorry, it's a little long but I got a bit carried away. I doubt if any criticism will be effective but darn it...I get tired of the lies.

To CNN:

Unbelievable…

Al Gore makes an impassioned speech as he receives one of the most prestigious awards that can be given to an individual and you use a comment by a right wing wacko to compare him to Jerry Lewis. Of course, in order to see the speech, one had to watch BBC America who covered it live in its entirety. Then Miles O’Brien gives a report that the Europeans seem to embrace science more that Americans so they seem to like Gore more than we do. Duh…that may be because they are enlightened, educated, and certainly do not suffer from the shallowness of the American public. It may also be because the European press tends to be more factual in their reporting and do not hide behind corporate ownership which directs the content of their broadcasts. Funny how things that the BBC and other European news organizations have been reporting for years seem to be now coming to light in the US. I suppose if our current President were receiving the Nobel Prize, you would be salivating to show us every detail and be swooning over the wonderful Georgie. Well, your little innuendo about the Prize being “political” is just your way of saying that Vice President Gore received the Prize to slight you little President and to slap the “non-environmentalists” in the face. Guess what, if there is truth and justice in this world, George Bush will never win the Nobel Peace Prize and if he should be awarded such a prize, then that’s when we will know that the Nobel Committee is, in fact, political and can be bought. Somehow, I don’t think that will happen.

So, please go back to Paris…Hilton that is, covering Natalie Holloways’s unfortunate death, car wrecks in CA (by the way, two people were killed in wrecks in KY on the same day that you showed the rescue of two women in a CA wreck…are we not worthy of your attention as well?), the cop who may have killed his wives, and all the other fluff that you do to fill 24 hours of news. Oh, did I mention Paris Hilton? You would be well served to watch the BBC and see how real news, important news, is covered. And for goodness sakes, could you lay off the “Breaking News” button? Do you really think that Barry Bonds going into Court on a pre-scheduled time and date was breaking news? Oh…you’ve got the tabloid mentality down ok and it does keep people watching to make your advertisers happy.

Please, Al Gore in not your enemy. The enemy is elsewhere; you need to have the guts to report the news truthfully, not skewed as you do, and to recognized the real issues facing not only the US but also the world.

Become what you should be…a real news organization.

cnn is lying about what Americans "think". Are we suppose to sit back and let them make statements about us that are blatant lies because they're scared shitless of Al Gore?

Americans are smarter than the cnn corporatemediawhores. They should be proud of Al Gore because as an American he won The Nobel Peace Prize but instead they show what Jealou$ A$$hole$ they are.

18. There is no "other point of view" on global warming
there are outright lies, but no other truth than the truth that exists. CNN may as well follow every graphic they have of earth as a spinning globe with a graphic of earth as a flat disk that the sun revolves around if they are going to stick with this idea of allowing nutty right wingers an opportunity to deceive the public after every fact is stated.

so they lie their asses off and run hit pieces about Gore and climate change.

That horrible right wing author was so goddamned smug and rude.

He's so pissed of that Northern Europeans believe in science.

Miles O'Brien was trying to stand up for Gore but the anchor back in the USA would hear nothing of it.

I do believe that the majority of people that watch Cable think that CNN is honest. They don't have a clue.

So sad that they can't see through slime like Roberts.

I'm still as mad right now as I was this morning.

I wish KO would do a piece and make Roberts the "Worst Person In The World."

I am still looking for a way to contact him on the cnn website.
How am I missing it? I have used the site before.
Did they get smart and hide it from me today ~ knowing that I don't like anybody to mess with the Real President - Al Gore!

35. Well, goclark...I'm glad..
so very glad you reported this on DU because now I have some verbal ammunition when I talk about Gore's speech in Oslo. I actually hesitated yesterday to say something among certain people who volunteer at our co-op because I didn't want to deal with a possible negative reaction. Now I know what to say if they have some snerk remark.

It's obvious that the m$$$$$m is spreading lies about Gore to suit their agenda. If Gore's not "popular" in the US, who is? bushit's polls are in the toilet where they belong much to the chagrin of the corporatewhores like cnn..so who have they made popular now?

I woke up thinking about it this morning and wanted to come back here and discuss it some more..

They "sleep" at night because their lies buy them the bed.

Thank you for watching that filth so you can see what the enemy is doing..we need that to act. This is our most "clear and present danger"..the corporatemediawhores brainwashing the masses.

The good news is that more people ARE catching on but the cmw need to be eliminated.

I have not heard one word of it mentioned as a smear campaign other than the posters at DU in this thread.

We all know why, they need his slime before the election.
Wake Up America!

Please post your response today( in a new thread) so that we can keep the issue alive.
I'm afraid that it will get lost in the Waterboard issue -- which is extremely important.

However, the "Nutty Professor" will be the Swift Boat Band Aid way that ROVE will kick our candidates in the election.

"Nutty" had Rove's name all over it.

Roberts and O'Brian were the two having the most fun poking fun at him.
