Jesus sighed.

He reached over and turned the radio up. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Freedom requires religion"? "Religion requires freedom"? WTF was this pendejo saying?

Right, you stupid guero, Jesus thought. Just like the freedom the Afghans had under the Taliban. Or the Jews had under the Inquisition. And "religion requires freedom"? What the heck? What was it that all those Jews in the camps were practicing?

Jesus shook his head.

Would it never stop? Would these pinche politicians ever quit using so-called "religion" to sell their weaselly lies?

3. True story:
The 14 yo son of a friend of mine used to have long hair until a few months ago. That earned him the nickname Jesus. But wait, there's more... he happens to be the brainiac of the classroom. People ask him for help all the time. Not for cheating (that I know of), but mostly for explaining math and physics. His friends literally kneel and shout, "Help me, Jesus!" "Bless me, Jesus!" "Grant me a miracle, Jesus!"

I wish I was there to watch the "revival."

5. Freedom requires nothing. That's what makes it Freedom.

And Religion requires Obedience. That's what makes it Religion. Just ask Jesus what happens when you're not obedient.

6. Why would politicians quit using religion?
It's so useful for gulling the gullible. Slap a "religious" label on something (when it is anything but), and reporters' eyes glaze over, nobody wants to ask a pertinent question because they don't know any better or for fear of looking like they're "attacking" "religion" by some blowhard like William Donohue of the Catholic League. So all the gentlemen, by unspoken agreement, never challenge a religious reason for doing the indefensible, springing from the twin fountainheads of ignorance and fear.
