1. Ice storms do some real damage. After a seriously bad one here back in the 1980's, I actually saw

It looked like a slow motion cartoon. hehe

4. Good morning to you
woke up about an hour ago with no electricity so I go get the generator from the shop so we can at least have some lights and power for our pellet stove. get all that done and powered up and sure 'nuf the power comes back on, oh well nothing like a drill to keep ones edge honed I guess. we have a long extension cord so I can let the neighbors have power for a light and most importantly power for their central heat too but this time I guess no one there woke up. All is well here now
I'm hoping the same is with you and your family, friends and neighbors, if not then toss me an extension cord cause the generator is fueled up and at the ready.

8. So glad all is well! We had some icing, but nothing
compared to you folks. Anymore ice expected today? We're looking at sleet for Thursday, yuck.

Hopefully your electricity remains on and you can save the gas! You may need it for your vehicle after the New Year begins!

Take good care.

10. Ewwwwwwwwww!
Looks worse than I expected. Hope my trees survive this, some are very old pines. Some have dead tops and I need to find some cash to take them down before they land on my house.

Glad my insurance is up to date! Of course we know that doesn't really matter since Katrina. :(

Hang in there my friend and get out your ice skates! :)

:hi:

12. madokie, Ice skates and broken limbs
sounds like a prescription for disaster to me, ;-)
Yep we have a tree that will be coming down in the near future as it is pretty much only a trunk now, the rest is on the back porch

Together we Americans stand tall divided we are but small to be left with only questions not answers.

13. We unite here and in our hearts.
May more unite with us and all benefit!

Peace to you my dear madokie.

And stay off those skates! Broken ankles hurt! I've been walking on an unhealed one since 2002, even marched on DC in Sept. 2005 on it. I marched in Jan. 2007 with an aircast that weighed 4000lbs! Well, felt like it by the end anyway. :)

3. We're getting it now. Trees and the deck look like they are covered in glass.
My satellite is already fading in and out. Weather report calls for lots of this freezing rain changing over to sleet, ice, and snow this afternoon and well into the night. Good day to fire up a pot of soup as long as the electricity holds out. We can always fire up the Aladdin heater and cook on it, if all else fails. Actually our community is blessed in that someone with some foresight successfully lobbied for backup generators for the power plant. During last year's ice storm, we were an island in the midst of a large area without electricity because of it.

5. we have a big assed limb hanging on our power line right now as I type so I'm worried it will take
the line down and if it does all of us will be with out power. I just looked at the weather and it looks like we are heading for more of the same later today.

6. Hoping that limb stays put. During the summer
Edited on Tue Dec-11-07 06:10 AM by Skidmore
we pruned all of our trees, so I'm hoping that this helps us out. THe town has buried power lines so not much fear from downed lines either. I'm more worried about our neighbor's (he never prunes) 100 year old maple dropping large limbs on our roof. Stay safe.

7. If we all come away with the know that we are all in this together
then maybe we can rejoice. Good luck with whats coming your way as it looks like a serious storm marching that direction.

I don't know much but I do know that bush america sucks big time.
Peace

11. Made it through another night of freezing rain
Didn't lose power, though towns all around us are. Little town nearby where my ISP server is went out last night, but I guess they got hooked up again, since I'm here.

This is insane, we've got massive power outages, with lots of limbs down. It is supposed to get up to thirty six today, hopefully we'll get some melting.

I've already had some orchard damage, I wonder how much more last night.

Madokie and everybody else in this mess, be careful and don't travel if you don't have to.
