Clinton volunteer asked to resign
Edited on Sun Dec-09-07 10:43 PM by frogmarch

By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer Sun Dec 9, 7:20 PM ET

DES MOINES, Iowa - Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign on Sunday requested the resignation of a second Iowa volunteer coordinator who forwarded a hoax e-mail saying Barack Obama is a Muslim possibly intent on destroying the United States.

Obama is a member of the United Church of Christ and says he has never been a Muslim, but false rumors attempting to tie him to Islamic jihadists are circulating on the Internet.

"Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential Candidacy," read the e-mail. "Please forward to everyone you know. The Muslims have said they Plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at The highest level."

The Clinton campaign has decried the rumors as offensive and outrageous, and last week forced volunteer Jones County coordinator Judy Rose to resign after learning that she forwarded a such an e-mail on Nov. 21. But it turns out Rose wasn't the only one.

1. Good for her and her campaign
Let's try and keep this to the issues and about the character of each candidate, not crass innuendo.

2. OMG. Someone on her staff did that? How freakin' awful is that? NASTY crap!
At least she fired their asses. I hope she made it clear to the rest of her staff members that that crap is not allowed?:( Shameful! I expect that from freepers, but NOT from our Democrats or their staff.:(

5. Volunteers.....sometimes you get what you pay for
I've had to oversee volunteers in a hospital a time or two.

Believe me, they are not all full of altruistic intentions.

They come in many, sometimes unruly flavors:dunce:

they "requested the resignation", according to this report.

10. Tell me about it
Edited on Sun Dec-09-07 11:47 PM by ashling
I have put in many volunteer hours for campaigns and for the party at the county level and worked as a paid volunteer coordinator. I have been hired specificaly to deal with certain volunteers. The point is that a campaign can't (or shouldn't) tolerate this in the slightest. A volunteer can be called in, told we appreciate the hard work that you have performed for our campaign, however, we can not tolerate this kind of activity,so we are going to have to ask you to leave.

So now, is the message that Clinton will not tolerate this kind of activity or hat they are embarassed that this person was found out?

4. "requested the resignation" , requested?!
Edited on Sun Dec-09-07 11:14 PM by ashling
A campaign manager shouldn't have to "ask" for the resignation of someone who pulls that kind of shit. As far as I'm concerned, they get no kudos for asking for a resignation. This person should have been out on the street immediatey.

7. Sorry, you need to handle people carefully. They can come back
seeking revenge. That is just common sense

11. And Sean Hannity & Rush would repeat the meme until it was "common knowledge"
Hell, Fox can't stop themselves from calling him "Osama" now. I heard a Faux News radio reporter do that just last Friday.

12. Democrats shouldn't be doing it at all.
If the best defense HRC has is that Repugs do the same thing, well, that says something.

14. Ah, yes, th "more ethical than a Republican" standard
How loooooow can you go. Democrats should stand for something a hell of a lot higher than that.

15. They did the right thing.
People have to keep an eye on overzealous volunteers to keep them from becoming a liability.

16. HC campaign blaming
misstep on a "volunteer." Shows that they are in a panic mode.

17. Oh give me a break... "panic mode" the volunteer DID send it.
Try not to let your unbridled hatred or jealousy of Hillary Clinton taint all of your posts.
