Are you kidding me? This is only the scandal du jour.

Does anyone really, I mean REALLY think anything positive will come from this C.I.A. tape scandal? Or the N.I.E.? Hell, if those war criminals in the White House don't have at least a scandal a week, they don't feel like they're doing their job. They have gotten away with everything, so far. This too will pass, since we have a bunch of gutless, cowardly co-conspirators supposedly watching our back.

The hue and cry you hear coming out of D.C.? A lot of sound and fury, meaning nothing. We'll all be talking about another scandal uncovered next week.

2. Dismally depressing, isn't it?
Those of us who have been here at DU from the early days
no longer exclaim, "THIS is the ONE that will bring them down..."

At this point, we just shake our heads, type our outrage
and wait for the next "Big One."

None of it goes anywhere. Ever.
Thanks to a complicit and criminal congress and senate.

4. Aptly put. The only way we are going to force them to understand the
full intensity of our outrage is to empower ourselves and band together. And sadly, that isn't happening.

6. I started hanging out at DU..
around the election in 2004. The information I have crammed between my ears is incalculable. All these revelations. Seeing as how my ignorance of my governments actions was so absolute, I can't help but think that ordinary folk like myself becoming aware in increments, can not but have a profound effect on our future political reality. Get some knowledge..plant some seeds. Who knows what will spring up?

7. In 'their' bubble world---
it's okay to 'out' an agent--Valerie Plame---but it isn't okay to keep tapes , because the agents on them, might have been 'outed'.

15. You stop believing at some point.
They will never get impeached. Just like Agnew and Nixon, no one paid. Just like Poppy and Raygun, no one paid.

19. I never said anything about letting up.
My leaders have let me down, and with no checks and balances, the war criminals have gotten away with, and will continue to get away with scandal after scandal.

21. The mere fact that these scandals are coming out IS the good news.
There are people in the CIA, the authors of the NIE, and people in the military who have decided that Bush/Cheney have gone too far, and THEY are pushing back.

After the 2006 election, I had hoped we would have elected enough people with some spine to Congress, but it became too quickly obvious that even with Democratic majorities, it was not going to make a difference as far as stopping Bushco was concerned.

However, Bushco have stepped on enough toes so that other areas of government are starting to fight back. The outing of Valerie Plame was, I believe, a serious blunder by Bushco. It went beyond merely using the CIA for nefarious purposes. It was a direct attack on the agency, and they will not be as gutless as some of our Congress critters.

Bushco's abuse of our military in the prosecution of the Iraq war, together with the corporate welfare bestowed on Bush/Cheney cronies like Halliburton, Blackwater, et al, at the expense of our troops, is developing hostility and resistance in many military people both retired and active duty.

Bushco, while they can still do great mischief, is starting to collapse. My theory is that Gonzales, Rove, and others (puke) left, not because they were pushed out, but because they were the proverbial rats leaving a sinking ship.

My advice is for Democrats to get involved in Congressional races to put more progressives in office. Whoever the next President is, that person should have a veto-proof Congress of Progressives with Spine.
