Health care ads to hit Iowa papers....Cheney would probably be dead now if he were anyone else...

DES MOINES --- A group advocating for a reform of the country's health care system is running a an eye-catching ad in Iowa newspapers Monday to bring attention to its cause.

The ad, sponsored by the California Nurses Association, asserts Vice President Dick Cheney would probably be dead now if he were anyone else and his government health benefits hadn't paid for treatments for his heart.

Charles Idelson, spokesman for the group, said the full-page ad will run in 10 Iowa newspapers, including the Courier.

"The point we're trying to make here is that health care is clearly the most critical domestic issue in this election campaign," Idelson said.

The CNA and its national arm, the National Nurses Organizing Committee, are a health care union representing 75,000 members in 40 states, according to the group's Web site.
