WH has known for a YEAR of NIE report saying Iran gave up nuclear weapons program in 2003
#

This NIE was apparently finished a year ago, and its basic parameters were almost certainly common knowledge in the White House well before that. This means that all the leaks, all the World War III stuff, all the blustering about the IAEA — all of it was approved for public consumption after Cheney/Bush/Rice/etc. knew perfectly well it was mostly baseless.

#

Why were the key judgments finally released? Cheney didn't want them released, Bush surely didn't want them released, and DNI Mike McConnell told Congress a few weeks ago that he didn't want them released. So who did?

Kevin thinks it was congressional pressure that got them to release it.

1. There's a campaign ad in there somewhere ...

Split screen -- on one side, the findings of the NIE (with crawl indicating this was completed a year ago), and on the other side, the succession of lies told by the WH (World War III, ad nauseum), all coming AFTER the NIE had proven them to be false.

4. One cynic..hold the mayo..
I think it's pretty simple to figure out the motive. Like "Deepthroat" said.."follow the money".
Who benefited from this crazy Iran war talk. We'll all see in a few weeks when the Oil Co's report their quarterly earnings.

8. Kudos to you. If I watched Tweety for more than a few minutes, I'd want to slit my wrists.
Blitzer's infotainment and Dobbs' constant drumbeat of "illegal aliens are ruining Amurika" are as MSM as I can stand.

10. When I see your pic of Al Gore and know that he should be on the way to finishing his
second term about now, I want to cry. However, I understand that his defeat may have been the salvation of our planet and for that I praise the Almighty.

11. On Bloomberg, they said that this new information became available over the summer.
It worked its way through the system and hit the NIE last Tuesday. Bush was informed on Wednesday. That's the word, anyway.

We shall see.
