Years ago, when she was toiling in obscurity on this complex issue, I became interested.

After all, I personally knew Kathleen Engel to be one of the most thorough, precise, methodical, and detail-oriented researchers/attorneys I'd ever encountered. She's not the sort to waste her time on meaningless matters.

I first encountered Kathleen when she represented a woman by the name of Lisa Chui in a maternity leave discrimination case against a company whose name is literally emblazoned on the Boston skyline: State Street.

Kathleen won for Lisa, but not before the company put on quite an entertaining show at the public hearing.

The current whereabouts of the "Pink Pump" is still a cause for hushed whispers in the Financial District's watering holes, though.

If you're ever in Cleveland (where she educates new crops of subversives at the Cleveland-Marshall School of Law), or considering where you might like to do a law degree, Kathleen is someone I admire for more reasons than I could possibly recount (and is as companionable as they come).
