Catherine Baker Knoll - "Pennsylvania's Pay for Play Princess" - Endorses Quid pro Quo Queen
Edited on Mon Dec-03-07 01:47 PM by CorpGovActivist
Voters in PA may recall the "pay for play" scandal involving former Treasurer Catherine Baker Knoll, and her daughter/would-be successor, Mina Baker Knoll.

Knoll attempted to lock in a sweetheart deal for State Street Bank during her lame duck period, jacking up the retirement service fees paid by Pennsylvania public employees and purporting to lock them in for the entire duration of her successor.

Now Lt. Governor of PA, the Pay for Play Princess has figured out which of the current candidates is likeliest to be the http://www.google.com/search?complete=1&hl=en&q=catherine+baker+knoll+endorses+hillary+clinton">Quid pro Quo Queen.

The facts are there, and this is an issue I worked with the MA Treasurer's Office on years ago.

4. MA Dem Treasurer, Shannon P. O'Brien, Helped Expose This
Edited on Mon Dec-03-07 03:01 PM by CorpGovActivist
Shannon P. O'Brien, former Treasurer of Massachusetts and Democratic nominee for Governor against Mitt Romney, helped bring the pay for play practices that took place in Pennsylvania to light.

How?

By taking the highly-unusual step of http://www.google.com/search?q=shannon+o%27brien+%22state+street%22+%22prim+board%22&complete=1&hl=en&filter=0">competitively bidding the state pension plan business, after years in which her GOP predecessor, http://www.google.com/search?complete=1&hl=en&q=joe+malone+treasurer+%22state+street%22">Joe Malone handed out sweetheart deals to hometown campaign cash bundler, State Street.

The pension trade rags took note when State Street's bid resulted in a significant curtailment of the prior relationship.

P.S. My hat is tipped to O'Brien's senior staff, including her former chief legal counsel and her former chief of staff (Michael Travaglini).

5. Shannon's Former Chief of Staff, Michael Travaglini...
... is a very sharp guy. His brother is Robert Travaglini, the parliamentary tactician who helped defeat Mitt Romney's end-run around gay marriage.

I owe Michael a few pints next time I'm in Boston.
