Sen Jim Webb sums it up
VA Senator Jim Webb was on Meet the Press today and he said something I thought very important.
He said:

"It's time for Reagan Democrats to come home".

That's the phrase we need in next year's national election. It was the moderate Democrats in the South and Mid West who voted for Reagan that swung this country into the Republican camp. What they voted for then is no longer a part of the Republican Regime. (if it ever was --- but let's not argue about that)

That broken promise needs to be pointed out to them. Along with the invitation to "Come home !".

1. Reagan Democrats?
1988 called, it wants its figures of speech back.

The "Reagan Democrats" are long gone. They have since either become Republicans outright, or come back into the Democratic tent during the Clinton years. Over the last 10 years voters have become pretty faithful about voting their party in the voting booth.
