Hagel on Bush WH: ‘most arrogant, incompetent’ ever.
Hagel on Bush WH: ‘most arrogant, incompetent’ ever. Yesterday in an address to the Council on Foreign Relations, Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) stepped up his rhetoric against the Bush administration, calling it one of the most “incompetent” in history:

Hagel, who considered running for the GOP presidential nomination as an antiwar candidate, told the foreign policy experts that he would give the Bush administration “the lowest grade of any I’ve known.”

“I have to say this is one of the most arrogant, incompetent administrations I’ve ever seen or ever read about,” Hagel said, according to our colleague Robert Kaiser, who attended the speech. In case his audience didn’t get the point, Hagel also said: “They have failed the country.”

1. Yep. I will have to second Mr. Hagel's statement. " They have
failed the country." And the "they" is Bush and Co.

3. What he's not admitting is that this is the culmination of GOPonomics
that started with Reagan's wealth redistribution scam. The problem isn't just Stupid. The problem is a party with a failed ideology, his own party, and he's not honest enough to admit it.

He just pretends it's only Stupid and it's only the war where he's failed.

4. Dang him to heck. Mr. Hagel was the biggest rubber stamp there was, until shortly before
the Dems took over Congress.

Yet, either he's worthy of an Oscar for best political display of despair, or he is genuinely sickened by the fact that Bush and associates keep "feeding kids into the machine" (his words). And, continues to speak out about this without equivocation.

5. He's right
Having worked with federal executive agencies for years, there is a distinct new atmopshere in this Administration.

The underlings don't know the laws they are enforcing or applying, or pretend they don't, arrogantly make extra-constitutional demands for evidence that is not relevent or not needed - they take ten months to make a simple decision - they make errors and leave the burdens of their errors on the citizenry.

Just hope you don't have to deal with them in any way - they are inefficient, mean-spirited, and arrogant.

To some extent this includes the judiciary, which has caught the disease. They care more about their comfort than the case. They pass their clerical work onto the unfortunate citizen who has no where to turn to but them.

10. Does it sound like a perfect lead in to an Independent VP Run With Bloomberg?
The Bloomberg/Hagel Independent ticket has been rumored for some time, and Hagel has done little to discourage discussion of it.

Make no mistake about it, Hagel is a Repub who is against this war in Iraq.

Likewise, Bloomberg is a multi-billionaire who would draw heavily from Independents, and significantly from Repubs and some Dems.

Without having to run the Primary gauntlet, and not having to raise any money to run(he has said he would spend $1 bil if he decided to run), Bloomberg could be a force in the 2008 Presidential Election. Add Hagel to the ticket, and I believe it would enhance his chances by shoring up any foreign policy deficits.

Unlike Al Gore, Bloomberg can wait to announce his plans since the only real obstacle is to get the required number of signatures to get on the ballot in each state. (But you can hire a lot of signature gatherers with $1 billion).

The continued foreign policy briefings that Bloomberg has been receiving, the weakness of Republican candidates this cycle, and the anti-Bush rhetoric of Sen Hagel, all do nothing to discourage the possibility that the major rival of the Democratic Nominee may not have even entered the Presidential Race yet.

11. Well, right after those remarks, Bloomie and Chuck went on another dinner date.
So they're either plotting something, politically, or they're having a very public gay affair.

12. Now that is very interesting... sounds like Bloomberg was clued in BEFORE Hagel made his comments.
What a coincidence?

There is definitely something up with Bloomberg. My take is that Bloomberg is making a final decision on whether to run now or in 2012, based upon the final piece falling into place... Bloomberg is looking for a 'guarantee that he will win' if he spends $1 billion.

Right now I am inclined to believe Bloomberg WILL RUN more than he will not.
