Edited on Thu Nov-29-07 02:00 AM by boloboffin
Have the TV on while the replay of the YouTube debate is running, and the gay general connected to Hillary's campaign was cut.

4. They could have run the question and run a disclaimer about his connection
And maybe cut the longer speech that the general went into.

But the question was valid. That's what this is going to be about tomorrow morning. The Republicans could have bitten the heads off of illegal immigrant babies and this is all they'd talk about tomorrow.

5. Did they cut his audience participation (when someone
apparently cut his microphone), or did they not show his youtube question?

Or both?

6. He should have been cut
Anderson should have talked over him because he is not a candidate and went on his own little speech for well too long.

19. An Odd declaration?
He was asked if they answered his question. His response should have been yes, but not what I liked.. Instead he decided to explain why they were all wrong. His job was to ask a question. he asked it. His job was then to respond to what Anderson asked him and instead he decided to take up a couple minutes talking about the issue himself. Nobody is looking to vote for him, they want to hear from the candidates, no matter how puke worthy WE may think they are.

17. So what? I think citizens ought to be able to respond (even at length)
to the BS that the candidates are spouting. And he didn't even go on *that* long either.

10. A decorated and retired brigadier general asked about Don't Ask, Don't Tell
Edited on Thu Nov-29-07 02:17 AM by boloboffin
The candidates basically told him to screw off (thanks for your service but good Christian people don't need you destroying unit cohesion with your faggotry). The general was there and was able to respond, and did go on quite a bit.

14. Yes, the question was from YouTube, but he was also in the audience.
There was another questioner that did the same thing - he asked a question about immigration and was there to pass judgment.

16. Bio of BG Kevin Kerr from Servicemembers Legal Defense Fund

He also appeared at a Log Cabin Republican convention, but with his advocacy on DADT, he probably would have.

Also, Fox News (yikes!) has a few interesting things on Carl Cameron's blog:

http://cameron.blogs.foxnews.com/2007/11/29/jake-and-the-gay-general/

Per Jake Gibson, Fox News Political Field Producer

So I’m hanging out with some political types in the hotel bar after the debate tonight and who do I see? Brigadier General Kerr, the man who posed the question CNN ended up apologizing for at the end of the broadcast.

CNN STATEMENT at 1:03 AM
Following the debate, CNN learned that retired brigadier general Keith Kerr served on Clinton’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender steering committee.

CNN Senior Vice President and Executive Producer of the debate, David Bohrman, says, “We regret this incident. CNN would not have used the General’s question had we known that he was connected to any presidential candidate.”

Prior to the debate, CNN had verified his military background and that he had not contributed any money to any presidential candidate.

Following the debate, Kerr told CNN that he’s done no work for the Clinton campaign. He says he is a member of the Log Cabin Republicans and was representing no one other than himself.

CLINTON CAMPAIGN OFFICIAL @ 1:17 AM

“HE IS NOT A CAMPAIGN EMPLOYEE AND WAS NOT ACTING ON BEHALF OF THE CAMPAIGN.”

Bolding is mine. He's on the steering committee for Clinton but he hasn't contributed to her?

18. Yup-- fully explained on other network news...
I heard covering the debate, and by CNN themselves.

Shit happens.

It's debatable whether or not they should have erased the general after the fact, but imagine the screaming around here if a Giuliani campaign employee made a speech at a Democratic debate.
