XM Listeners: Fascinating new Channel on Health and Medicine
Edited on Sun Nov-25-07 05:43 PM by Mike03
Just wanted to let XM listeners know that there is a new XM channel, Reach MD channel 157, aimed solely at licensed medical professionals. Although I'm not a licensed medical professional, I am interested in all aspects of modern medicine, new studies, etc...

The hourly programming is divided essentially into four 15 minute segments. Today they were running a special on "The Diabetes Epidemic." But they also deal with psychological issues such as bipolar disorder, ADD, Depression. Some segments were devoted to insurance issues, issues that tick doctors off, biotech and the results of various phase I and II clinical studies into new potential medications. It is a wide ranging, thoroughly mentally stimulating station. One of the programs today was about the possible dangers of thimerosol, an ethyl-Mercury containing preservative in many vaccines (including the influenza shot). I never thought I'd hear doctors discussing this on a station whose sponsors are drug companies! This seems to be an honest station. No flakey infomercials either--this is programming by doctors for doctors.

Check it out if it sounds of interest to you.

Stay Healthy.
