Take the 1-1-1 Challenge and Make Someone's Holiday Season This Year!

Small actions in large enough numbers can have incredibly significant results in addressing a serious food shortage at Food Banks across the country.

Many people will go hungry INSIDE THE UNITED STATES during this Holiday Season, even though they are surrounded by tremendous wealth.

Here is the challenge that everyone can take to make this Holiday Season one without hunger for some of our fellow citizens.

CONTRIBUTE at least One(1) can of food to a Food Bank or Soup Kitchen or Hunger Charity,
at least One(1) Dollar in cash to a Food Bank or Soup Kitchen or Hunger Charity,
and ask at least One(1) other person to do the same.

Try it and you may find that helping others avoid hunger will make your Holiday Season the best ever!

2. Major Cities are reporting they are at supply deficits of 35% or higher over last year...

... and numbers requesting relief have increased up to 300%.

A recent news story indicated that the present economic downturn has affected not only those who receive food but those who have contributed food in the past. A problem on two fronts.

The total cost of the 1-1-1 Challenge would be less than $2 per person.

But if every registered user at DU participated, and every person they asked participated, it would raise approximately $220,000 this year.

That would feed a lot of hungry people this Holiday Season.

And during these frightening economic times, $2 doesn't feel so threatening.

6. It serves 2 purposes....

It demonstrates how we all can make a difference in the lives of others by making an almost painless contribution.

And it raises the awareness level of not only ourselves but that of at least one other person to the tragic needs that are going unmet in a land of overflowing wealth.

Someone once suggested to me if every purchaser of Mercedes Benz in this country this year merely ordered the standard hubcaps rather than the upgrade and contributed that difference in price to a Charity, it would run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.
