How it is Today
Today the shit isn't made as well as it used to be, it costs more, and people can't do without it. The military that won World War II can't beat a bunch of bandits in a tiny country. Our money isn't worth the paper its printed on, even our coins have been reduced to worthless potmetal. Our leaders are charlatans, our Congress an ineffective assemblage of egotists enriching themselves as they remain unresponsive to either the Constitution or the vast majority of their constituents. Children can't read and the homeless abound. Mortgage foreclosures are increasing at the same time that real wages are decreasing. The tax burden has been shifted from those the most to the least able to pay. Neighbors are encouraged to spy on neighbors and the Federal Government spys on everyone. Outstanding health care is available for the rich, little is available for the poor.

Please feel free to add to the list.

1. The worst thing is, most people are not awake enough to care
If the American public would wake up and demand better, all these things would change. The problem is us, collectively, and our misinformed, apathetic, materialistic culture.

4. It is not just us....
how can you blame 'us' when we
are misled and lied to all of the
time? I agree apathy and total
disconnect is a problem here but,
it still would not be as bad if
we were not continually fed a line
of bullshit.

When the American public has demanded
things lately - what good has it done?
Just recently, dumbya said he knew the
majority of Americans wanted the Iraq war
over but, that did not matter. He was
going to do what he thought was right.
The will of the people is irrelevant in
a tyrannical rule.

2. We, a nation of immigrants,
now hate immigrants. We used to be the nation
the world looked to to do the right thing, now the
world looks down on us because we do the wrong things.
We are founded on the freedom of religion, now any
other religion than Christianity makes you suspect.

I could go on and on but, it is depressing to see
just how far down the slippery slope we are.

3. The mass believes that everything will get better
because it "feels better"

5. We are no longer "the home of the brave" and consequently
we won't be "the land of the free" much longer either.

6. But we do have these cool forums where we can discuss things. Not to be a Pollyanna.
