MSNBC Hedges on Tucker's Future
by Zachary Roth Published: November 23, 2007
Tags: Media, MSNBC, Tucker Carlson

Rumors have been flying recently that Tucker Carlson could soon be on the way out at MSNBC. In a report that aired this morning on NPR, Phil Griffin, a senior vice president at the cable network, described Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as part of the MSNBC "brand". Asked whether Mr. Carlson was also part of that brand, Mr. Griffin replied: "He is right now."

Not exactly a vote of confidence.

1. Are they fed up with Tucker's smug partisanship, thinly disguised as naive populism?
I know I am.

2. Me, TOO! I read recently he's going to be hosting a game show.
Seems like that'd be more his speed.

13. I saw that on TV though I can't remember where. What I do remember
is that Tucker was being announced and the announcer said that Tucker would be hosting a game show. Tucker was present so it must be true.

7. I agree. Griffin must have had to bite his tongue to imply Tweety is as smart as Keith.

And I, too, noted the extremely weak support of Tucker implied in Griffin saying "He is (our brand) now."

He did everything but say the rest..."...but that may not be for long."

If I were Tucker, I'd feel as if my name on the dressing-room door was written in chalk.
