Charlie Wilson's War. A good book, now a movie.

I saw in the paper today, it's supposed to open on X-mas day.

Tom Hanks as Wilson, and Julia Roberts as one of his girlfriends.

Charlie Wilson was a corrupt cokehead, boozing, womanizing, Texas Democratic congressman, who was the father of the "Afghan Freedom Fighters", aka the Taliban and the Northern Alliance. He was also implicated in gun running to the Contras in Nicaragua.

The book was pretty good. The movie probably won't do it justice.

1. Won't do it justice? I wouldn't be so sure. It's written by Aaron Sorkin.

2. Yeah, but there were a lot of little side pieces in the book.

Like the brutality the Afghans showed Soviet prisoners. And some other CIA intelligence concerning mules.
