Roasted Chestnuts

I am very thankful that Skinner's parents had sex.

I'm grilling Turkey for the family today.

1. I'm thankful for the health of my mom, dear hubby, and son.
I'm thankful that we love each other and even more thankful that we truly like each other as well.

I'm also thankful for the community at DU, though I can't wait for the primaries to be over (hoping that civility will return then)

the few thing left to be thankful for.

I'm thankful to (outside my personal life, won't bore you with that!):
Skinner & DU High Priests & moderators
Amazing commentators on DU like NanceGreggs.
Al Gore
Cindy Sheehan
Bernie Sanders
Thom Hartmann
... and many I can't remember because I'm so damn sleepy!

and
NASA, NSF, Nat. Geography, and other science research/education groups (for giving me a place to dream)

5. I give thanks
for the continued health of my family, friends, and myself.

for the friends I lost this year, I am thankful to have had the privilege to know them.

for every moment I spend outdoors in my beloved Pacific Northwest.

for every kindness and consideration any stranger or friend has given me.

for the DU family who continue to make me laugh, make me think, or rub my fur the wrong way.

for the ass clowns who have somehow become our leaders, and thus motivated all of us to care a little more.

and I'm especially thankful for the aroma of a 22-pound free-range turkey stuffed with northwest apples and herbs right out of the garden!

Happy Thanksgiving one and all!

6. The fact that just for this one day I can cook, clean, expect company,
feed my family, let a kid who's family took off for out of town come over and eat (they didn't tell him they were going) after he gets off his shift at Arby's, know that for today at least, we are warm and sheltered, we will be well fed, we will have company we want and not have to put up with anyone we don't want, and just be tool around and be free (at least feel that way) in my own home.

I'm very happy for that. Very grateful.

Tomorrow it all begins again. I'll go back to the rat-race. I'll worry about EVERYTHING from the squatter in chief sullying OUR White House to wondering where the hell to get a part-time job to get through Christmas, the same shit I worry and obsess about every day. But for today, and for us, its all good.
