And everyone else - well, if the need for a material item from me influences their feelings, that's sad. And I'm far from wanting to be "The coolest mom on the block".

People who love me, and who I love realize the need to become debt free in the coming years. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize the economy is not healthy and the best thing anyone can do is hunker down, conserve, and reign in the spending.

The best gift we can give our loved ones is the message of fiscal responsibility, and how to enjoy the free things in life.

2. All the distractions & pressure to spend does make it tough. But really the tough

things happen when we succumb to the pressure, and get into financial difficulties. It's good to step back, take inventory, and review our values and goals. And give the people we love good role modeling.
