A post to give thanks and remember those we have lost - from Andy to OMC's wife
So many we have known here on DU have passed, or those whom have passed that were related to DU'ers.

As I sit tomorrow for dinner I will remember all those in my life that have left us, and those on DU and their loved ones whom have passed.

So many good people here, so many will not sit down and share dinner with those they miss.

Just know that we folks here have not forgotten you or your loved ones this holiday season. Not only will I think of my mom and friends lost, but I will remember you all and how you have touched my life.

We don't always agree or like each others' views, but in the end we stand with each other to make this a better place to live.

And this Thanksgiving, I will remember you.

5. I have set aside a bottle of fine wine for Monkeyman.
I have been saving it for months just for tomorrow.

If there is anything for which I could consider myself thankful this year, it is the fact that I became close friends with Dale Peters.

I still get a tad weepy when I see him on my Buddy List.

44. Kephra! he made DU for me and taught me so much about how to
communicate by using published information and giving source references. Then expecting others to do the same. His information was tremendous in both quantity and quality.

Ever since, I have no tolerance for all this "some say" stuff that we hear and read in columns. I make it a point to point that out to others. Something like, "Hmm, 'Some say ...', leads me to believe that it's his opinion and he can't find any facts to support it."

Kephra, you made a big difference in the world. You are still missed.

6. I may have it rough right now, but not near as bad as some others we know
I consider myself lucky to have all that I do, and to have my friends here on Du to talk to when I need it.

I am thankful for what I do have, and sad for what others don't. I hope in my heart their lives get better, and for those passed on - I want them to know their lives are not forgotten, that they had an impact on us.

As I fill up tomorrow I will think about them and their impact on my life - simple postings on a message board to some, but to me and many others so much more.

A lot like your posts my dear Peggy :)

You have made my life a little better just by being you.

27. Thankful this year that we are all among friends and family -- and you DUers
who aren't flame throwers!!!! Thanks for caring and sharing.

Although we are not at a table with you, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving. Our daughter and son-in-law do the turkey and fixings, then we "reward" them by taking the two grandkids on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday while the parents go off to the Oregon Coast to get lost in themselves for a few days.

Radio Lady remembers OMC's wife and Andy S... as well as all the vibes given and received to so many others over the past few years.

Also the wonderful support she received in December 2006 when her ex-husband died of lung cancer, and in January 2007 when one of the men she had cared for and who was important to her -- passed away from a massive stroke.

This life is so brief. We really have to make the most of it in personal and political ways if we possibly can.

Respectfully,

Audio Al

11. TSS, I remember Andy's fight and his passing. At the time I was a serious lurker
but his posts and dedicated work helped to propel me into "coming out", so to speak. This Thanksgiving, I will remember him, OMC's wife, Monkeyman, and the money others who have left the planet. This Thanksgiving will be especially poignant as my Grammy Ewey left last monday and joined my mom, Grandpa Ewey, my Aunt Ruth, my MIL Jeanette, and so many others who've gone on before. I will remember them with a warm though heavy heart and thank God that I was blessed to have had these people in my life and on the planet in same time I've lived who've taught me what courage, valour and real love really are.

Yes, Straight, I too will remember many this Thanksgiving and be immensely thankful for the time I had them in my life and heart.

21. That's really beautiful.
I have lost, as well. But still, as I sit here, I'm hearing the Monty Python tune. Always look on the bright side of life!

What a brilliant post. I see clearly how this kind of thinking brings us all together. We can hate and be divided, or we can all be one. There is a choice. It may not seem like what I'm saying belongs here. But by remembering those who are gone, we are enforcing that notion that what was is not forgotten, and what is is of value.
