Dodd: Investigate the President
by Dean Barker
Tue Nov 20, 2007 at 05:01:57 PM PST

Once again, Dodd leads on the issues that matter most to us.

Just in to my inbox:

Des Moines, IA - Senator and Presidential candidate Chris Dodd, today, released the following statement in response to the claims of former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan that he "unknowingly passed along false information" to the American public and that "the highest-ranking officials in the administration were involved in his doing so," including the Vice-President and the President:

"Today's revelations by Mr. McClellan are very disturbing and raise several important questions that need to be answered. If in fact the President of the United of States knowingly instructed his chief spokesman to mislead the American people, there can be no more fundamental betrayal of the public trust.

"During his confirmation process, Attorney General Mukasey said he would act independently. Accordingly, today, I call on the Attorney General to live up to his word and launch an immediate investigation to determine the facts of this case, the extent of any cover up and determine what the President knew and when he knew it."

1. No 'I' word.
It's good that Dodd's said this, but it's time he gets on board the impeachment train!

4. Believe it or not they are.
But I just heard that the whole book won't be released until next spring.

This is "impordant" as Scotty always says.

7. yup, they are
On MSNBC "Morning Joe" (Joey Scar isn't there this morning), David Shuster is giving it in-depth coverage and analysis. They are touting him (Shuster) as the journalist who knows more about this whole affair than anyone.
They have this story on a news loop repeating it about every 15 minutes.
Lots and lots of coverage :)

8. There's nothing to investigate. The White House responded
saying that the excerpt in McClellan's book was taken out of context. So, there's nothing to see here and we should all just move right along.

9. I think the term is "IMPEACH"
A privileged resolution has already been brought to the floor of the House by Dennis Kucinich, where it was kicked around quickly DROPPED by the "corporate and complicit" wing of the "Democratic" Party.

Way to water down an idea Chris...way to lead...wait a minute...didn't they ALREADY investigate this? With Patrick Fitzgerald? AT KUCINICH'S REQUEST???

From 2005:

http://dir.salon.com/story/news/feature/2005/10/24/plame/index.html

"Last week, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, who ran for president in 2004 on a "culture of peace" platform, introduced a resolution that would require the Bush administration to turn over all the documents produced by the White House Iraq Group, a collection of senior White House aides who developed the strategy to sell the war in Iraq.

But Kucinich's proposal, not to mention other legislative strategies being considered by Democrats in the House, has no real chance of moving forward under the Republican leadership. They privately hope that Fitzgerald uncovers what they cannot. "There are a number of folks on the Hill who would like to know more, frankly, about the history of Iraqi intelligence development," said one Democratic staffer who works with the House Armed Services Committee. "I think it's a relevant question to say, Is investigator Fitzgerald the person who has all the answers to this?"

Fitzgerald's questions for Judy Miller, the New York Time reporter who received leaks of Plame's identity, suggest that the prosecutor may, in fact, shed some light on this matter. According to Miller's account, Fitzgerald asked about Dick Cheney's involvement in the leaking of Plame's name, as well as Libby's traditional handling of classified information. Fitzgerald also showed Miller documents she thought she recognized as excerpts from the National Intelligence Estimate of Iraq's weapons capability, a document that may have been classified at the time.

And a report Monday from UPI suggests that Fitzgerald may have already looked into the discredited documents gathered by Italian intelligence that purported to show an Iraqi deal for obtaining uranium."

Chris Dodd: What a friggin' POSEUR...Sure, Chris...let's "investigate."
