Fire-starters.. the Modern Right Wingers
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 05:13 AM by SoCalDem
They love the act of starting fires, but then run like scared rabbits once the fires are blazing.

They present themselves as mild, friendly "concerned" citizens, but we all know they are anything BUT.

Pat Buchanan is one
Lou Dobbs is one

You can probably come up with hundreds of others.

These are the folks who can always be counted on, to rally their fringe malcontents, and to man the positions..

What positions?

Racial divisiveness
Social unrest
Generational unrest
Gender unrest
Religious unrest
Cultural unrest

They thrive on discontent. Many of them "claim" to be independent, but their thinking is anything BUT , independent.

They can always be counted upon, to stir things up , as elections loom nearer.

The fire starters are always ready to dribble a little napalm here and there, and fan the flames...then sit back and act surprised when "people get all excited" about the "outrage of the day".. They back off and pretend to be above it, and are only "commenting" on it.

Republicans made a deal with the devil when they allied themselves with all these groups, but in reality these groups are often crossovers and have co-mingled "members". Racists are often misogynists.. rabid anti-abortion folks, tend to be misogynists, and anti-gay rights..

The rabid right wingers are haters.. There is very little they are IN FAVOR of, unless it's a return to times of "Leave it To Beaver" or "Father Knows Best", or any number of other fictional 50's environs.

The seem to hate whatever era they live in. they hated the '60s..they hated the '70s..they tolerated the '80s (but hated the fact that EVERYONE did not Love Reagan)..They damn well loathed the '90's( They were ok with all the money some of them made), and even though they have had near-complete republican rule for most to the 2000's, they still have plenty of hate to go around..

The firestarters have gotten them all riled up about immigration this go-round, and the potential loss of their power.

They seem to forget that for seven years their party controlled everything, and yet none of their "issues" were solved..

The haters, are little more than kindling for the fire starters.... they are a necessary part of getting that fire storm going, and they get burned in the fires too.. They salve their wounds afterwards, and wait until the next firestorm, when their services will be needed again. Every two years they get sucked in and like Wile E Coyote, they keep falling for it.

When hate, envy, greed, and fear are the group's repertoire, it's a snap to get a big fire going..

Take your pick

guns
god
abortion
"illegals"
welfare
gays
school prayer
vouchers
"Islamofascists"
"The Clintons"
global warming..
the "war"

ANY issue can be tailor-made to light those torches and get them fired up, and many can be used all at once for a big-ole California-style inferno...

These same firestarters and kindling are usually the first ones to cry "no-fair" and demand that "we all get along" after the fires are put out and the embers stomped out.

They feign innocence and claim to have only the best interests of the country at heart, but the firemen know better..

They play with matches every two years, and we have yet to take their matches away..permanently..

2. The only way to "take their matches away permanently"
is to expose them for what they are to the American People--by making it abundantly clear that their ideology completely strips the inherent dignity from the human spirit by formenting hatred in all its forms, racism, xenophobia, misogyny, misanthropy, classism, religious intolerance, and every single possible variation in general.

THIS is the whole Republican Party message. "Hate them...fear them...because they're different from US. Different from you."

This isn't their operational goal, or the core of their ideology--though many of them operate there, in the lowest realm of human consciousness. Their goal is control. Their ideology is about feeding off anything and anyone who can provide them with what they hunger for.

3. So true--I see them "starting the fires" to get the rest of us afraid of
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 07:15 AM by lulu in NC
their boogeymen too. I've always believed that under most hatred is fear. If they can get the rest of us as crazy with fear/hatred as they are, we'll embrace Big Brother gov't. They hope.

4. Even high school kids do it
as in this post today:

Thanks, SoCalDem, for another excellent analysis.

These violence-spewing hatemongers won't be satisfied until everyone in the world is as angry and hate-filled as themselves. And they might not be satisfied even then. I guess to take their mode of "thinking" to its ultimate extreme, they desire a smoking, burned-out, dead planet covered with nuclear rubble.

5. K 'n R
Clamping on my :tinfoilhat: I think some of them are trying to foment a home-grown terrorist act. Wouldn't put ole blow-hard Buchanan necessarily in that group, but more the likes of Insannity and that idiot Beck. Create the atmosphere in which something *could* happen then, who'd a thunk it, some *does*

8. Beck & Hannity are OVERT..everyone KNOWS they are rabid neo-cons
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 08:49 AM by SoCalDem
The dangerous ones are the ones who come across as jovial, friendly and somewhat sensible.. Like Dobbs, especially.. He oozes contempt when he talks about the democrats, but he does it with a good humored tinge...and then immediately says something negative (but barely so) about the republicans..

And he sees himself as getting stronger..he personally "took down the drivers' license plan in NY ..at least he thinks he did, and he may be right.. he harped on it daily, and you can be sure that the minions were writing letters & calling like maniacs.. NY Governor did not have an hour of national airtime 5 days a week..

They wait for their "orders" and then go to it..

His polls are strategically set up so that the "winner" is always about 95%..

Remember that Star Trek alien that lived on hate?

Much of the media is like that. If there were no
conflict, how would they sell the advertising in
their fish-wrap?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_the_Dove

So they incite us, we continue to buy it, and we go
at it hammer-and-tongs, all while the Earth is crumbling.

Ah well...

The family resemblence is clear.
