I had the WORST TERRIFYING nightmare of my life last nite. Woke up in a cold sweat.

I dreamt that Gomer Pyle's double had somehow risen to the position of leader
of the free world -- President of the United States -- and was gingerly
poised with his finger on the nuclear button while the world was on
the brink of a world war.

Imagine my consternation when I realized it was real!

What greater evidence as to our country's apathy and "let someone else do it"
attitude is there than to one day wake up from a self-absorbed stupor and find
Gomer in the driver's seat of the most power nation on Earth... a true testament
to the "ME" generation. I hope we manage to live to regret our mistake!
