4. I do... do...wonder who voted for Obama..but then after he
got his campaign to release the information about his former opponent Ryan, I guess he was up to anything. And look what he did to his friend Ann Powell. After she touted him for the state seat, and she lost her bid she asked him to step aside. Because he was so blinded by the chance at power he sneakily had his campaign file charges against her so she would be disqualified to register to run for her seat and he got it.

Most of the real citizens of Illinois say...he does these underhanded things and then steps aside and pretends HE is the innocent bystander.

5. Senator Byrd has done a lot of good things
for West Virginia I suppose but he is getting to be an embarrassment I think. I look for them to start rolling him out on a guerney.

6. I've had a few long drawn out conversations out at the flying field
Mostly centered on politics specifically, but the state of the world in general. These are mostly pretty down to earth people, some with a pretty decent level of education. What is most frightening and depressing is that they are so poorly informed and susceptible to misinformation and perception management. They have the intellect and experience to sort out problems with complex technical systems, but accept official statements and media presentations without any critical examination.

It's amazing how much time and energy it takes to break through their limited view of the world and help them understand the world they see every day is only a small part of reality. Once I get someone to question their view on an issue, I push the idea of being cynical of any corporate media or government source. The number 1 recommendation is to shut off the TV or at least realize that they're only trying to sell soap. The second is to goad them to search out reliable and multiple sources of information. Then I downright beg them to start reading. It may not seem like much, but I'm convinced that reading provides a much greater bang for the buck than any passive means of information transference. I'd be interested to see some input from someone with a background in neuro science or neuro psychology on that issue.

You're right, we have a lot of work to do, but if we use the right tools and techniques, it doesn't have to be that hard.
