The Lottery Industry’s Own Powerball

How do you feel about lotteries and the billions they "raise"?

4. That would be a great idea if every state did it!!! You can SEE what's happening with it!!
In NJ, I'm not so sure where or how it's applied to education ---
certainly no free BA's . . !!

2. It isn't a responsible way to raise funds for education.
Education requires a steady, reliable income flow that can be anticipated well in advance. It is to be used for the good of all Americans and should be raised by a progressive system of taxes. This kind of one-off bonanza payday breeds corruption.

5. On the other hand, I agree with this --- something odd about the lotteries . . .
First we heard that the wealthy were polling their resources to take the big prices ---
but then I think they just went for the usual steal --- eh ????

8. It's a regressive tax on intelligence.

:silly:

It's also fun to blow a buck occasionally and play "what if?" :dunce:

9. OK, glad I actually read your reply
I was going to say, I invest a dollar when the jackpots get big. You get to dream "what if" until the drawing. But I don't invest heavily in it.
