Almost all the canidates said they favored "National Security" over Human Rights.....

How can anybody support someone who says something like that?

All the other issues are mute if they dont believe in the fundamental FREEDOMS and LIBERTIES that are GIVEN TO US by the CONSTITUTION!


Why are people getting a free pass on choosing to be scared over being free?


IF you support this way of thought, you deserve neither freedom NOR safety.

1. Human rights trump security every time

anyone who says they must have security are basically saying that they have made all citizens slaves of the government. That opens the door to domestic spying, "disappearances" of anyone the government doesn't like, etc. etc.

4-great Grandpa Cleveland wasn't afraid of a little insecurity (he was captured by Native Americans twice and escaped both times), but he was darned if he was giving up his rights, which is why he fought in the American Revolution. I'll take care of my security, thank you, and defend the Constitution.

2. why do you think

that this isnt a major topic for discussion on DU?

its totally being ignored and it should trump all other issues.
if there are no civil liberties and freedom, just what exactly do we exsist for ?


i made a post last night concerning this and only got 8 replies!

i seem to recall people being very angry about the patriot act at some point on DU... yet nobody gives a shit that almost all the people running for president just said our rights mean nothing in the face of fear?


im completely LIVID over this and the lack of anger on DU over this...

i guess we should just ignore it because they are democrats?

im ashamed.
