1. Don't get too excited about Kirk
Congress cannot oppose the war and continue to vote to fund it. We need to get them to vote down the $100 billion Supplemental Appropriation. Kirk is on the House Appropriations Committee & has the power to stop the war funding.

Many 10th District contituents have been lobbying Kirk's office in person, as recently as last Monday. Kirk's response to all the pressure is to oppose the surge. But Kirk is on the Appropriations Committee, where he could really do something to cut the war funding. That's what people have been lobbying for.

If Kirk doesn't vote down the supplemental appropriation (and it looks as though he won't), there will be an occupation of his office and people will get arrested. That will further tie him to the war, and further assure his defeat next election.

I suggest we call all the R's who voted Yes & tell them to take the next step: vote down the supplemental appropriation.
