Buzzy told Cookie about his Blackwater ties WEEKS ago
Perjury charges anyone? :D

Not looking good for State Department Inspector General "Cookie" Krongard. Today he told the House Oversight Committee that his brother wasn't on the Blackwater advisory board. Then when he was later confronted with news to the contrary, he said he'd only just found out and would henceforth recuse himself from all Blackwater inquiries.

But Spencer Ackerman just interviewed Krongard's brother, "Buzzy" Krongard, who told Spencer that he definitely did tell his brother all about it. Only a few weeks ago apparently.

Perjury charges have been made of much less.

We'll bring you our report shortly.

1. More
Howard "Cookie" Krongard might have just perjured himself before the House Oversight Committee.

Earlier today, the State Department inspector general repeatedly told the panel that he was unaware his brother, A.B. "Buzzy" Krongard, had joined the advisory board of State Department security contractor Blackwater. Krongard said he had a single phone conversation with his brother about the issue, in October, in which Buzzydidn't tell Cookie he was joining the board.

Only Buzzy says that's not true.

In an exclusive interview with TPMmuckraker, Buzzy Krongard says that in that phone conversation, he specifically told Cookie Krongard he had agreed to join Blackwater's advisory board. "I had told my brother I was going on the advisory board," Buzzy Krongard says. "My brother says that is not the case. I stand by what I told my brother."

Buzzy Krongard says the phone conversation was more recent than Cookie Krongard indicated to the committee. Cookie said it took place about five or six weeks ago. Buzzy says it was about two or three weeks ago. Both men say there was just one phone conversation. How to reconcile the two accounts?

"I told him I was going on this board. He claims I didn't tell him," Buzzy Krongard says. "So what can I tell you?"

Waxman's Opening statement

Chairman Waxman's Opening Statement

This year our Committee has given a special focus to two areas: finding waste, fraud, and abuse and
examining how to make government effective again.

Today’s hearing on the performance of Howard Krongard, the State Department’s Inspector General,
bridges both of those fundamental issues.

The origins of this hearing begin with the Committee’s oversight of the State Department’s actions in
Iraq. As we examined the construction of the new Baghdad Embassy, the oversight of Blackwater, and
corruption in the Iraqi government, seven current and former officials in the Inspector General’s office
expressed concerns about Mr. Krongard’s own oversight of the State Department. These officials —
and others who spoke with the Committee during our investigation — raised fundamental questions
about Mr. Krongard’s judgment, actions, and effectiveness.

They described their serious concern about his inadequate oversight of the construction of the
Baghdad Embassy, his failure to assist a Justice Department investigation of Blackwater for arms
smuggling, his refusal to pursue charges of procurement fraud implicating DynCorp, his intervention in
the investigation of Kenneth Tomlinson, and his lack of independence in auditing the State
Department’s financial statements. The Committee was told that due to Mr. Krongard’s abusive
management style, the Office of the Inspector General is “bleeding people right and left.”

What these officials told the Committee is summarized in a staff report I am releasing today, and
without objection it will be made part of the record.

....
Respect is the ultimate currency.

6. This would be as good as any other thread to update, George Oilwellian
This afternoon Cookie's lawyer said that no hearings should be held-because it would alienate two brothers.

Two brothers from a fine, elite Baltimore family. Yet Cookie is suing a son and daughter-in-law.

And Buzzy is no longer connected with Blackwater, according to Erik Prince's statement given Friday.

So what else do we know about these two brothers from a fine, elite Baltimore family?

Both of them attended Princeton, and in the social networks of fine families those Ivy League old school ties often lead to career paths not available to most of us.

Take a look at Source Watch's profile of Cookie, for example.

Howard J. Krongard
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Howard_J._Krongard

Buzzy has been involved with many fine financial institutions for decades-he went to work for the oldest investment banking firm in the US, Alex Brown Inc. and was also with the firm it was absorbed by-Bankers Trust.

Buzzy also did work for Deutsche Bank, a major Halliburton shareholder (8.3 million shares).

Gee, what a coincidence that those kinds of jobs are ideal for black budget network managers.

George Tenet appointed Buzzy #3 in the CIA in 2001, yet he likely had an association established well before that. Maybe it was from the social networks that these fine families maintain through generations, even through intermarriage.

Well regardless of Buzzy's Blackwater status he also became a member of the Board of Directors at Iridium in August 2006. Iridium Satellite are a privatized ears and eyes in the skies business.

"Alvin B. Krongard Joins Iridium Satellite Board of Directors" (8-9-2006 repost from spacenewsfeed)
http://www.spacenewsfeed.co.uk/2006/13August2006_19.html

Spooky past is well established with these two brothers from a fine Baltimore family.

Perhaps Buzzy and Cookie hung out with some of those other Ivy League frat kids, maybe some of those fine elite men from Yale. Yale does have secret societies for these elite leaders, not just Skull and Bones but also The Fence Club aka Psi Epsilon.

Here's a link featuring a 1960 Yale frat picture that has some other spooky guys in it-there is Porter Goss and William Henry Trotter Bush aka "Bucky" (Poppy's baby brother) sitting next to each other in the first row-and there's John Negroponte in the back row. Maybe all these guys socialized together back then.

"Quite the club..."
http://www.ctrl.org/boodleboys/qclub.html

And to conclude this post, let's not leave out the fine pedigree of the Erik Prince networks.

"The Far Right in West Michigan: Erik Prince" (from mediamouse.org)

All these fine families are part of the Bush Family Evil Empire/BFEE, aren't they?

Maybe other DUer's will add to this thread.

12. onlinejournal.com had a nice little summary.
http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_2652.shtml

The empire’s operatives exposed: The Krongards, 9/11, and Blackwater/Iraq

New bombshell testimony before Congress has revealed that Alvin B. “Buzzy” Krongard, the former CIA executive director connected to 9/11 insider trading, is a consultant and advisory board member of Blackwater USA, the New World Order’s leading intelligence-related corporate mercenary death squad now under investigation for war crimes, murder, arms smuggling, and fraud in Iraq.

“Buzzy” Krongard’s Blackwater role was confirmed by “Buzzy”’s brother, Howard “Cookie” Krongard, who (not ironically) is the Bush/Cheney administration’s State Department’s inspector general, and the official under fire for stonewalling and quashing attempted probes of Blackwater’s operations.

It was during the last Wednesday's hearing before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, chaired by Henry Waxman (D-CA), that “Cookie” Krongard denied, then confirmed later in the same testimony, the fact that his own brother was a Blackwater advisory board member throughout the period in which “Cookie” engaged in the cover-up of Blackwater. It is not known if “Cookie” Krongard lied, or was lied to, but he has now recused himself from “all matters having to do with Blackwater."

As thoroughly documented by Michael C. Ruppert in Crossing the Rubicon: The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil, until 1997, A.B. “Buzzy” Krongard was the vice chairman of investment bank A.B.Brown (Alex. Brown). A.B. Brown and its previous incarnations have been involved with Bush family business ventures for generations, including deals with the Carlyle Group. It was also one of many major investment houses implicated for money laundering in congressional probes.

11. Disorient and confuse.
A power player with shadowy objectives
....
But Krongard exhibited the requisite secretiveness when asked
to explain his interest in intelligence and how he came to land
a job in Tenet's inner circle. If you go back to the CIA's origins
during World War II in the Office of Strategic Services, he
explained, "the whole OSS was really nothing but Wall Street
bankers and lawyers."
