News of the Weird.

Since politicos in Washington are taking a few days off in honor of Veterans Day, we're going to spend a little time this silly season discussing the nutty news stories that usually don't warrant any press.

For example, according to the AP, a man in India has married a female dog in a full traditional Hindu ceremony as an attempt to atone for stoning two other dogs to death — an act he believes cursed him: "P. Selvakumar married the sari-draped former stray named Selvi, chosen by family members and then bathed and clothed for the ceremony Sunday at a Hindu temple in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, the Hindustan Times newspaper said.
Selvakumar, 33, told the paper he had been suffering since he stoned two dogs to death and hung their bodies from a tree 15 years ago."

It's no stranger than the Pamela Anderson - Kid Rock relationship when you think about it. Or Scott McClellan and Jeffy Lube Gannon.

Back (somewhat) in the real world, former pilots are calling for new UFO investigations. As reported by Reuters: "An international panel of two dozen former pilots and government officials called on the U.S. government on Monday to reopen its generation-old UFO investigation as a matter of safety and security given continuing reports about flying discs, glowing spheres and other strange sightings. 'It's a question of who you going to believe: your lying eyes or the government?' remarked John Callahan, a former Federal Aviation Administration investigator, who said the CIA in 1987 tried to hush up the sighting of a huge lighted ball four times the size of a jumbo jet in Alaska."

Kucinich may be relieved; he's not the only one. Remember, the truth is out there . . . somewhere under Cheney's crypt.

Finally, Georgia's Govenor Sonny Perdue held a prayer vigil today to ask the great cloud being to send some rain to the parched state before Georgians had to start a new Civil War with Alabama and Tennessee over water rights from the southern lakes. Heather Teilhet, Sonny's spokeswoman said: "Georgia needs rain. The issue at the heart of our drought problems is a lack of rain. And there is nothing the government can do to make that happen. The governor recognizes that the request has got to be made to a higher power."

Maybe he should ask Karl Rove to work some of his mojo down South.

Oh, and two mega-killers: Negroponte and Musharraf - are facing off this week in Pakistan. Negroponte has been dispatched to strong-arm the dictator to end martial law and hold the elections. There was no word on whether or not Negroponte would demand that Musharraf strip off that uniform directly in front of him.
