2. Hahaha... Now that is hilarious... The Super Nation doesn't seem to be...
so super after all.... Wonder what other surprises that either China or Russia might have that the US doesn't have a clue about?

I've claimed more than once here that our mighty fleet
is damned vulnerable to an unconventional, asymmetrical
attack (say a wooden boat riding low in the water and
packed with explosives).

This just proves that that is true.

4. I was on a DE, escorting the Enterprise when a Russian sub popped up.
Not even 150 yards off our starboard bow.

A bunch of the Russian submariners came out on the deck and were waving at us.

This was maybe 1972.

5. I wonder if it occurred to the geniuses in the Pentagon
China send many young people to engineering schools, how many of them are into sub design, as well as the art of silent stealth design? A new meaning to the phrase "If you think education is expensive, try ignorance."

6. Nah, it's the other direction.
You've got the Navy designed to fight the Cold War, and Soviet era nuclear subs.

Meanwhile, the Chinese are running diesel subs which when on batteries run quieter than nuke subs.

Well, that's modern military for you. It's not meant to work, it's meant to make money for defense contractors.
