Marc Maron ROCKS!
No offence to Thom Hartman .... but I wish Marc was taking over for Al Franken.

Marc's show is so funny.

1. Sorry, Thom, but I agree. I think Thom would be better before Mike Malloy...
At lunchtime, daytime, etc., Maron's entertainment/shotgun style is WAY more EFFECTIVE in coming out of the radio than Thom's more schoolbook / CSpan / NPR approach.

Marc Maron is a PISSER and is a great fit for after Sam Seder.

Don't get me wrong, Thom can get down and dirty with his right wing 'guests', but in the end, Thom's strong suit is when he gets to show the extensive research and far reaching perspective which he brings to the show. That being the case, his more cerebral approach is better after dinner, when it's less distracting.

(dare I say, as a lead-in to Mike Malloy?)

ps: if you caught http://www.bradblog.com/">Brad Friedman subbing for Mike Malloy last week, I was VERY surprised at how good HE was!

3. I agree. I was devastated when AAR axed Morning Sedition.
Stupidest decision they ever made. And just the first of a whole bunch of dumb decisions.

Maron really needs his own program again. If some suit in liberal talk radio land has half a brain, they'll give him one.

4. I'm confused. What show is on now?
I was driving in the car and Thom Hartmann was on, as I thought he was replacing Al... then I got home and turned on the online version and Maron is on... What is the schedule?

5. Marc Maron is filling the 2-day gap between the end of Al's show and the beg of Thom's show.
Starting Monday, Thom Hartmann's show will be in Al's old time slot...at least on AAR streaming.

6. yes, i totally agree
I feel like a broken record i have posted this so much. Morning Sedition was really fun to wake up to, and I was quite sad and upset when they took the show off. Marc and Mark had a funny hip vibe that made you feel like you were participating in something BIG with their show. Thom is great but I echo what the above poster said about him being NPR-ish (not necessarily a bad thing, just not my thing).

7. I hope the new AAR mgmt finds a spot for Marc, I miss him!
Although, I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to come back to AAR.

11. I hear that.
He'd have to move BACK to NY again. But if someone offered me a job in NYC that I could support me and the SO ..... I'd be on the next plane east!

10. I agree - Marc Maron was (is) terrific
I loved the Marc & Mark morning show - I switched over from Stern the day they started and never went back. They were funny and smart and were really good on radio. (Franken is funny & smart, but is not great in the radio format, IMHO)

Stephanie is on from 9am to 12am. Well, that is me in northern CT listening to a western Mass station. I can't get the new station they switched to last year out of NYC in anymore.

19. There is an AAR station in New Haven, CT
But, I refer to their signal range as "spitting distance"

That's what has really killed AAR (IMHO)- the crappy stations with no signal strength.

They probably should have taken a bunch of them and marketed each show to various radio stations in major markets. There might be some with a good signal strength willing to take on at least 1 or 2 AAR shows. As an example, here in Hartford, they have WTIC-AM 1080. It is a 50,000 watt CBS station and they have two local progressives on air - Colin McEnroe in afternoon drive time (3-6pm) - and Stan Simpson on Saturday mornings. They carry Limbaugh from 12-3, and they have a local batshit crazy conservative on from 10-12am, and a somewhat libertarian conservative on from 5:30-10am (along with an apolitical co-hostess)... but, at least they have two shows that are left of center. I'm sure if somebody marketed a successful progressive syndicated show to them, it would have at least been considered for late-night or overnight.

The kids will usually choose recess.

But there are times when an apple works, and times when an orange works.
