Non-binding/non-schmiding
There's a reason we want an up-or-down vote on this.

We want people on record, BEFORE November 2008, on where they stand.

Once those GOP senators go on record supporting the doomed-to-failure they'll have to compaign against their own record in 2008.

1. Too early, people will long have forgotten this
resolution in Nov. '08.

3. I don't think so. HRC is still taking heat for her IWR vote.

6. Many things will happen between now and Nov. '08
to make this resolution almost irrelevant.

2. Yes. Also, it is a gauge for support on future legislation on this matter. nt

4. The only problem I have with this strategy is all the deaths and maimings
that will take place between now and November '08. If the Democrats in congress do not have the power to stop this war, then they should come out and say that they can't do it. If they do have the power to stop it, but are holding off on it because of political concerns, then that is an indictment of the Democrats. If the Democrats are afraid of a fight because of the politics, then that too needs to be known, right now...

5. I don't mean to imply that this should be our strategy
I simply mean that the whole reason why the Bush apologists keep saying this "non-binding" thing won't do a bit of good is because they know they'll be on record supporting him come election time.

I think that's a good thing.

In the mean time, I think you're right, we need to find a way to end the deaths and maimings.
