Source: BOL, Brazil

A 5 year old boy, dressed in a Spider-Man shirt, saved a baby from a fire in the city of Palmeira, Santa Catarina, according to that state's fire department.

Riquelme Wesley Maciel dos Santos took away from the flames Andrieli dos Santos, the 22 month old daughter of a neighbor. According to the firemen, the mother saw the house was on fire and ran out of it. Riquelme, playing at his house's yard, saw the woman's desperation, yelling that her baby was still in the house.

He went in the house, took the baby from the crib and, with some difficulty, carried her to the house's yard, safely away from the flames.

"He said he wasn't afraid because he was Spider-Man," said fireman Giovanni Cunha. The fire consumed 80% of the residence.

3. Applaud the kid for saving the baby, not so happy with his display of courage...
or, more accurately, fearlessness, which is different than courage. Hopefully he will grow up a little more and distinguish fantasy from reality.

6. Sony Pictures needs to learn:
With great marketing comes great responsibility.

Glad that kid wasn't hurt.

10. Please tell me
how Sony pictures is even remotely accountable for setting up this young, brave little boy's fantasy?

Children at that age often do not know fantasy from reality. Perhaps he actually had to see himself as his hero to have the courage to help out.

But as for Sony bearing any responsibility for this, that is a bit too much

8. Don't have kids of my own...
...but seem to remember that very young ones don't really understand the concept of 'personal danger'.

Not saying this is wrong or bad parenting...just takes time for this concept to sink in.

Bet he's gonna have a serious case of hero-worship on his hands from the little girl he saved...
and she's got braggin' rights.
She was saved from a fire by Spiderman, and her mom will back her up.

I hope his parents set to teaching him the difference between fantasy and reality immediately!
